In a high-stakes speech accepting the Republican presidential nomination, Mitt Romney said he would work to unify a divided country that had lost faith in President Barack Obama.
His speech was seen by a television audience in the tens of millions, with some voters getting their first extended look at the former Massachusetts governor.
Mr Romney and Mr Obama have been running close in polls, but the convention so far has given Mr Romney a boost. The latest Reuters/Ipsos online poll showed him moving into a narrow lead over Obama - 44 percent to 42 percent among likely voters.

News reports are buzzing over a newly-released song in which rapper Nicki Minaj purportedly endorses Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Now, one can't always take what a rapper is saying — or performing for that matter — literally. But, Minaj's words, which are overtly favorable of Romney, do cause one to wonder if the edgy performer is, indeed, planning to cast a vote for the candidate.
Minaj's pseudo-endorsement (if we can even call it that) arrived via 'Dedication 4,' fellow rapper Lil Wayne's most recent mixtape. The line in the song that has sparked intense intrigue goes as follows: 'I'm a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy b**ches is f**king up the economy.' The lyrics are present in a song called 'Mercy.'

Mitt Romney told a group of donors in a surreptitiously taped private fundraiser that voters who back President Obama are 'entitled' and 'dependent on government.'
Romney told the donors:
There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. ... These are people who pay no income tax. My job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.
Romney seems to be referring to the estimated 47 percent of Americans who did not owe federal income taxes in 2011 because their incomes were so low that they qualified for a tax credit, or because they didn't work at all. Last year, 22 percent of people who didn't owe income taxes were elderly people on Social Security, and an additional 17 percent were students, disabled people or the unemployed. More than 60 percent of the group were low-income workers, many of whom qualified for the child tax credit or the earned income tax credit. (These workers did pay payroll taxes for Soci

A video has gone viral of a 4-year-old girl crying about being tired of the Presidential camapaign. In the video, Abigael Evans, of Colorado, tells her mother Elizabeth Evans that she is tired. She says, 'I'm tired - I'm tired of Bronco Bama and Mitt Romney,' as tears flow down her face.
Her mother said that the child started to cry after 'one too many mentions of the election' on NPR news. Her mother says in the video, It'll be over soon, Abby,' her mother is heard saying on the video. 'The election will be over soon.'
In response to the crying child, NPR made an apology. NPR correspondent Mark Memmott wrote on NPR's website, 'On behalf of NPR and all other news outlets, we apologize to Abigael and all the many others who probably feel like her. We must confess, the campaign's gone on long enough for us, too. Let's just keep telling ourselves: 'Only a few more days, only a few more days, only a few more days.''
By Thursday afternoon nearly 2 million people have viewed the YouTube video making Abigael a viral sensation. Almost ten thousand people gave the video a thumbs up.
The long campaign trail is over in less than a week, with voting culminating on Nov. 6. Very soon the nation will know who our next president will be. Barack Obama or Mitt Romney? Or as Abigael would say 'Bronco Bama' or Mitt Romney?
