Young pace bowler Chetan Sakariya has been in the news ever since he was picked up by the Rajasthan Royals for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The left-arm seamer available to be selected at the base price of Rs 20 lakh and after a bidding war between RCB and RR, the latter franchise managed to secure his services for Rs 1.2 crore.


It was a huge moment for Sakariya who himself was going through tough times at that time. His brother had committed suicide and father’s health wasn’t up to the mark. The whole responsibility was on him to take care of his family and the IPL salary definitely brought a smile on his face.



The cricketer, in several interviews, wished to give a good life to his parents and was hoping that his father gets to rest as well from his work. Unfortunately, Chetan Sakariya’s father has passed away due to COVID-19.


Star Sports spokesperson had last week said: “While it’s heartening to know that more viewers tuned in to watch this IPL season than the one in 2020 (at the same stage of the tournament), we still believe that postponing the season was the right decision to ensure the safety of everyone involved and in line with the prevailing situation in the country.


Akmal believes that Babar has shown commendable improvement while captaining the Men in Green. However, he needs to bring a change in his selection policy. Giving an example of Pakistan’s legendary skippers like Inzamam ul Haq and Younis Khan, Kamran asserted that both the former captains were very particular regarding the selection of players and always valued domestic experience.
