രാജ്യത്തിന്‍റെ വിവിധ മേഖലകളില്‍ സ്ത്രീകളുടെ പ്രാതിനിധ്യം വര്‍ധിക്കുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ വനിതകള്‍ക്ക് മുന്‍ഗണന നല്‍കുന്ന സമീപനവുമായി ചരിത്രം കുറിക്കുകയാണ് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ആര്‍മി. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ സൈന്യത്തില്‍ ചേരാനാഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന പെണ്‍കരുത്തിന് സഹായകമാകുന്ന പ്രഖ്യാപനമാണ് ഇപ്പോള്‍ പുറത്തുവിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. രാജ്യത്തിന്‍റെ ശക്തി ആകാന്‍ താത്പര്യമുള്ള വനിതകളെ മിലിറ്ററി പൊലീസിലേക്ക് ക്ഷണിക്കുകയാണ് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ആര്‍മി. സൈന്യത്തില്‍ ചേരാനാഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് വ്യാഴാഴ്ച മുതല്‍ ഓണ്‍ലൈനായി റിക്രൂട്ട്മെന്‍റിലേക്ക് പേര് രജിസറ്റര്‍ ചെയ്യാം. കരസേനാ മേധാവിയായി ചുമതലയേറ്റ ജനറല്‍ ബിപിന്‍ റാവത്തിന്‍റെ ആശയത്തിന് പ്രതിരോധമന്ത്രാലയം അടുത്തിടെയാണ് അനുമതി നല്‍കിയത്.
ഇന്ത്യന്‍ മിലിറ്ററി പൊലീസിന്‍റെ 20 ശതമാനത്തോളം സ്ത്രീകളെ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തുമെന്ന് ജനുവരിയില്‍ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകളുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
സൈന്യത്തില്‍ വനിതാ പ്രാതിനിധ്യം ഉയര്‍ത്തുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെയാണ് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ആര്‍മി ചരിത്രമുന്നേറ്റത്തിന് ഒരുങ്ങുന്നതെന്നാണ് കേന്ദ്ര പ്രതിരോധ മന്ത്രി നിര്‍മല സീതാരാമന്‍ അന്ന് പ്രതികരിച്ചത്.
നിലവില്‍ പ്രതിവര്‍ഷം 52 വനിതകളെ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ആര്‍മിയിലേക്ക് റിക്രൂട്ട് ചെയ്യാറുണ്ട്. എന്നാല്‍ ഇവരെ ആരോഗ്യം, എന്‍ജിനീയറിങ്ങ്, വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം എന്നീ വിഭാഗങ്ങളിലേക്കാണ് റിക്രൂട്ട് ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഇതാദ്യമായാണ് മിലിറ്ററി പൊലീസിന്‍റെ ഭാഗമാകാന്‍ വനിതകളെത്തുന്നത്. ആര്‍മി കന്‍റോണ്‍മെന്‍റുകളുടെ നീരീക്ഷണം, സൈനികര്‍ക്കായുള്ള നിയമങ്ങളുടെ സംരക്ഷണം തുടങ്ങിയ ചുമതലകളാണ് മിലിറ്ററി പൊലീസിന് ഉള്ളത്.
ഇതാദ്യമായാണ് മിലിറ്ററി പൊലീസിന്‍റെ ഭാഗമാകാന്‍ വനിതകളെത്തുന്നത്.

India's first indigenously designed and developed Dhanush artillery gun got inducted in the Indian Army during a ceremony held at Ordnance Factory in Jabalpur on Monday. Dhanush, a 155mm/45 calibre towed gun system is deployable in all types of terrains. It is also the third artillery gun to be inducted into the force after the K-9 Vajra, and the M-777 ultra-light howitzers were recruited in November last year. Part of Army's ‘mediumisation’ of the artillery, the guns will be deployed along the borders with Pakistan and China.
