ദിവസങ്ങൾക്ക് മുൻപാണ് ഇലോണ്‍ മസ്‌കിന്റെ സ്പെയ്സ് എക്സ് നടത്തിയ 'ക്രൂ ഡ്രാഗണ്‍' പരീക്ഷണത്തിനിടെ പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ചെന്ന വാർത്ത വന്നത്. ഇത് സംബന്ധിച്ച് വ്യക്തത നൽകാനോ പ്രതികരിക്കാനോ സ്പെയ്സ് എക്സോ നാസയോ തയാറായിരുന്നില്ല. എന്നാൽ അന്ന് സംഭവിച്ചത് പൊട്ടിത്തെറി തന്നെയാണെന്ന് സ്പെയ്സ്എക്സ് വക്താവ് തന്നെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. അന്ന് ട്വിറ്ററില്‍ പോസ്റ്റു ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട, വ്യക്തമല്ലാത്ത വിഡിയോയാണ് പൊട്ടിത്തെറി അവകാശവാദം ഉന്നയിച്ച് ആദ്യം രംഗത്തെത്തിയത്. പുതിയ ക്യാപ്‌സ്യൂളിന്റെ അബോര്‍ട്ട് സിസ്റ്റം സ്റ്റാറ്റിക്-ഫയര്‍ ടെസ്റ്റ് നടത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ പൊട്ടിത്തകരുകയായിരുന്നു. അഞ്ചു സെക്കൻഡുകളുടെ രണ്ടു സെറ്റ് ഫയർ ടെസ്റ്റുകളാണ് നടത്തിയത്. എന്നാൽ ദൗത്യം കൈവിട്ടതോടെ ക്രൂ ഡ്രാഗൻ പൊട്ടിത്തെറിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. സംഭവത്തിൽ ആർക്കും പരുക്കില്ല.
എല്ലാ സുരക്ഷാ സംവിധാനങ്ങളും ഒരുക്കിയായിരുന്നു പരീക്ഷണം നടത്തിയത്.
ഈ വര്‍ഷം ബഹിരാകാശ സഞ്ചാരികളെ ഭ്രമണപഥത്തിലെത്തിക്കാനുള്ള നാസയുടെ നീക്കങ്ങള്‍ക്കും വന്‍ തിരിച്ചടിയാണിത്. കഴിഞ്ഞ മാസമാണ് ഡ്രാഗണ്‍ ക്രൂ ക്യാപ്‌സ്യൂള്‍ ഫ്‌ളോറിഡയിലെ കെയ്പ് കനാവറല്‍ ലോഞ്ച് സൈറ്റിലെത്തിച്ച് പരീക്ഷിച്ചത്.സൂപ്പര്‍ഡ്രാകോ അബോര്‍ട്ട് ത്രസ്റ്ററുകള്‍ ബഹിരാകാശ സഞ്ചാരികളെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്ന കാര്യത്തില്‍ നിര്‍ണ്ണായകമാണ്. അപകടഘട്ടത്തില്‍ ക്യാപ്‌സ്യൂളിനെ സുരക്ഷിതമാക്കാന്‍ ഇത് അത്യന്താപേക്ഷിതമാണ്. എന്നാല്‍, നാസ പറഞ്ഞത് തങ്ങളുടെ ബഹിരാകാശ സഞ്ചാരികളുമായുള്ള ദൗത്യം മാറ്റിവയ്ക്കണമോ എന്ന് ഇപ്പോള്‍ പറയാറായിട്ടില്ല എന്നാണ്. ഇത്തരം സാധ്യതകളുള്ളതിനാലാണ് ടെസ്റ്റുകള്‍ നടത്തുന്നത് എന്നാണ് അവരുടെ പ്രതികരണം. ഞങ്ങള്‍ പഠിക്കുകയും, വേണ്ട ക്രമീകരണങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും.
