Police foiled JKLF's protest in Srinagar, by detaining the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief, Mohammad Yasin Malik. Police on Monday foiled a proposed gherao of the civil secretariat here by the Congress party.
Led by its state president G A Mir, scores of Congress party workers tried to march towards the Secretariat, however they were stopped by the police on Moulana Azad road.
Mir said that the protest was being staged against the “failure” of the government to govern after taking oath last month.
“Mehbooba Mufti is bringing the same RSS, VHP and BJP in Kashmir and imposing them on the same voters from whom she had sought votes to keep BJP and RSS away from Kashmir,” Mir told the reporters.

JAMMU LINKS NEWS | Police foiled a march towards Raj Bhavan by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers on Tuesday, demanding implementation of 7th pay commission and delinking of their salary from Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD).
Hundreds of SSA teachers, including women, from different parts of the valley assembled at S K Park Srinagar under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) in support of their demands.
However, when the teachers, raising slogans demanding implementation of 7th pay commission and delinking salary from HRD, tried to march towards Raj Bhavan to meet Governor N N Vohra, police swung into action and stopped them from moving ahead.
Police resorted to lathicharge and also used coloured water to disperse the teachers.
