നാസയുടെ ന്യൂ ഹൊറൈസണ്‍ പേടകം പകർത്തിയ അള്‍ട്ടിമ - ഝൂലെയുടെ ചിത്രം കൗതുകമുണർത്തുന്നതായി
ഭീമമായ തലയും ശരീരവും ഒട്ടിച്ചു വച്ച പോലെ 'അള്‍ട്ടിമ തുലെ'. ഭൂമിയില്‍ നിന്ന് 650 കോടി കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ അകലെയാണ് ഈ വസ്‌തു.
2014ല്‍ ടെലസ്‌കോപ്പിലൂടെ കണ്ടെത്തിയ അള്‍ട്ടിമ തുലെയുടെ വ്യക്തമായ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ ഇതാദ്യമായി നാസയുടെ ശൂന്യാകാശ വാഹനമായ ന്യൂ ഹൊറൈസണ്‍സ് പകര്‍ത്തി. ഒന്നാം തിയതി അള്‍ട്ടിമ തുലെയുടെ 3500 കിലോ മീറ്റര്‍ സമീപത്തു കൂടി പേടകം കടന്നുപോയി.
സൗരയൂഥത്തിന്റെ അതിരുകളില്‍ കണ്ടെത്തിയ ഏറ്റവും വിദൂരമായ വസ്‌തുവാണ് 'അള്‍ട്ടിമ തുലെ'. കുള്ളന്‍ ഗ്രഹമായ പ്ലൂട്ടോയെ ആയിരുന്നു ഇതുവരെ ആ സ്ഥാനത്ത്.
2015ല്‍ പ്ലൂട്ടോയുടെ സമീപത്തുകൂടി ന്യൂ ഹൊറൈസണ്‍സ് കടന്നു പോയിരുന്നു.
പ്ലൂട്ടോയില്‍ നിന്ന് 150കോടി കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ കൂടി അകലെയാണ് അള്‍ട്ടിമ തൂലെ.സൗരയൂഥത്തിലെ ബാഹ്യ വലയമായ ക്വിപ്പര്‍ ബെല്‍റ്റ് എന്ന മേഖലയിലാണ് അള്‍ട്ടിമ തുലെ സൂര്യനെ ഭ്രമണം ചെയ്യുന്നത്. കുള്ളന്‍ ഗ്രഹങ്ങളും ബഹിരാകാശ അവശിഷ‌്‌ടങ്ങളും നിറഞ്ഞ മേഖലയാണ് ക്വിപ്പര്‍ ബെല്‍റ്റ്. അള്‍ട്ടിമ പോലെ തണുത്തുറഞ്ഞ കാഠിന്യമേറിയ പതിനായിരക്കണക്കിന് വസ്‌തുക്കള്‍ ഇവിടെയുണ്ട്. 4600 കോടി വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുന്‍പ് ഗ്രഹങ്ങളും മറ്റും രൂപം കൊണ്ടതിന്റെ തെളിവുകള്‍ ഇതില്‍ ഉറഞ്ഞുകിടപ്പുണ്ടെന്ന് ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞര്‍ കരുതുന്നു.
ഈ ചെറുവസ്‌തുവിന്റെ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ പൂര്‍ണമായി ഭൂമിയിലേക്കു കൈമാറാന്‍ ഇനിയും 20 മാസം കൂടി വേണമെന്നാണു നാസ പറയുന്നത്‌.
കളര്‍ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ ലഭ്യമാകാന്‍ ഒരാഴ്‌ചയും. ഭൂമിക്ക്‌ ഏറ്റവും അകലെ നിന്നെടുത്ത ചിത്രമാണു അള്‍ട്ടിമ- ഝൂലെയുടേത്‌. പാറക്കൂട്ടത്തിനു സ്വയം ചുറ്റാന്‍ 15 മണിക്കൂര്‍ വേണമെന്നും ന്യൂ ഹൊറൈസണ്‍ കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. ഇതിന് 33 കിലോമീറ്ററാണു നീളം. പ്ലൂട്ടോയെ ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ട്‌ 2000 ജനുവരി 19 നാണു ന്യൂ ഹൊറൈസണ്‍ വിക്ഷേപിച്ചത്‌. പിന്നീട്‌ ദൗത്യപരിധി നീട്ടുകയായിരുന്നു. 2028 വരെ സഞ്ചരിക്കാനുള്ള ഇന്ധനം പേടകത്തിലുണ്ട്‌. പേടകത്തിന്റെ അടുത്ത ദൗത്യം സംബന്ധിച്ചു നാസയുടെ തീരുമാനമായിട്ടില്ല.
ഇതിന് നിറം ചുവപ്പ് ആണ്. സൂര്യപ്രകാശം ഭൂമിയിലേതിന്റെ 1600ല്‍ ഒരംശമാണ് , 460കോടി വര്‍ഷം മുന്‍പ് തണുത്തുറഞ്ഞ രണ്ട് ഗോളങ്ങള്‍
