It was 2-0 just six minutes later after an amazing one-two pass between Valentin Verga and Rogier Hofman and Verga slammed a shot past the keeper. The Oranje were in full force and from their first penalty corner Jeroen Hertzberger sent a shot between the keeper's legs to put his nation 3-0 ahead. South Africa found themselves trailing 4-0 with two minutes until half time when Robbert Kemperman finished from a pass by Constantijn Jonker.
The goals kept coming in the second half and the Netherlands were 5-0 up within three minutes of the restart with Robbert Kemperman blasting a powerful shot in for his second of the night. Three minutes later it was 6-0 thanks to Billy Bakker's great turn and shot low into the corner of the goal. Germany was on the front foot in the first half and created most of the chances and they definitely made them count. They took the lead in the 27 minutes when they were awarded a Penalty Stroke and Zeller made sure Germany capitalised on this opportunity. Germany continued to dominate in the game but South Africa keeper Johnathan Robinson made a fantastic save to keep his team in it. However Robinson was unlucky for Germany's 2nd goal when Stralkowski shot went through the keeper's legs and at the break it was 2-0 Germany.
2nd half, Germany continued to dominate and not sit back. Germany increased their lead when Mats Grambusch made his way into the D and his shot hit the back of the net making it 3-0. 4 minutes later Germany would seal the win for the team when Christopher Ruhr made a fantastic run into the D and managed to squeeze his shot into the D, and looked like one of the best goals of the tournament but his shot was blocked as went through the wall of South African defenders but Oliver Korn was on hand to tap the ball into the net, sealing the win for Germany.

The current World Cup champions Argentina take on South Africa in the last game of day 2 of the Rabobank Women's Hockey World Cup 2014.
After failing to take advantage of three penalty corners in a row, Argentina scored from their fourth with a powerful shot from Silvina D'Elia in the 26th minute. She doubled her tally from another corner 2 minutes later to put Argentina up 2-0. Argentina kept South Africa at bay for the rest of the half to go into the break with the two goal lead.
Argentina scored from yet another penalty corner to make it 3-0; Noel Barrionuevo scoring after a neat set play. The goal to make it 4-0 came from a shot from Delfina Merino that beat the keeper at her near post in the 61st minute. South Africa responded immediately and Tarryn Bright made it 4-1 seconds after the restart, but it was not enough to stop Argentina from starting their defence of the World Cup title with a win.

'England and South Africa went head to head in their third match of the 2014 Rabobank Women's Hockey World Cup.
Both teams knew this game was a must win after they both lost their first two games, and England got off to the better start with Lily Owsley hitting the post within 5 minutes. However, South Africa took the 1-0 lead after 17 minutes through Kathleen Taylor reacting quickest during a scramble in front of goal. Sulette Damons then scored on her 150th appearance for her nation to take the score to 2-0 with a world-class finish.
After England were temporarily reduced to 10 due to a green card, South Africa took advantage to go 3-0 up in the 40th minute with Shelley Russell with a lobbed deflection at the back post. Dirkie Chamberlain made it 4-0 to South Africa in the 53rd minute to effectively put the game to bed. England pulled a consolation goal back two minutes later through Nicola White, but South Africa prevailed over the number 3 seed to score their first win of the tournament.

'The second Men's Pool B game of Friday saw Korea up against South Africa in the 2014 Rabobank Hockey World Cup.
Both teams came into the game having lost their first two matches of the tournament, and the first half was a cautious affair with no clear cut chances. Korea went close with a shot from Kim Seong-kyu that just went wide of the post, but neither team could break the deadlock and halftime arrived with the score 0-0.
Julian Hykes almost gave South Africa the lead in the 39th minute when he broke away but fluffed his lines when he was one-on-one with the keeper and shot wide. The two hard-working, disciplined teams did not look like scoring and when Korea did score from a penalty corner it was disallowed after the South Africans asked for a video referral. Goalkeeper Lee Myung-ho then made three excellent saves in quick succession to keep Korea in the game. Neither side were able to score and the game finished as the first 0-0 tie of the 2014 World Cup.

'China and South Africa looked to keep their semi-final hopes alive in the last Pool B game of Sunday at the 2014 Rabobank Women's Hockey World Cup.
China started brightly and made it 1-0 in the 7th minute when Liang Meiyu converted a penalty corner. Despite having the majority of the possession, South Africa went 2-0 behind when a defensive lapse by Marcelle Manson allowed Mengrong Wu to score a deflection.
South Africa began a comeback in the 42nd minute when Kelly Madsen finished with a half volley effort to take the score to 2-1. However, the quality of China prevailed and 19 year old Wang Na scored in the 54th minute to increase the lead to 3-1. Bernadette Coston pulled another goal back for South Africa in the 63rd minute, and three minutes later the comeback was complete when Pietie Coetzee struck from a penalty corner. The game was not over, however, as China executed a penalty corner to go 4-3 up through Wang Mengyu with two minutes remaining to end South Africa's dreams of a semi-final place.

'1st Half, and straight after kick off Argentina nearly took the lead when Mazzilli made a great run into the D and unleashed his shot towards goal but this went over the bar. Soon after the goal came, and it was a mistake by South Africa's defence and goalkeeper when along ball came through from the Argentinian defence and Joaquin Menini was on hand to capitalise on the South African mistake. Argentina, in control of the game, doubled their lead soon after when the top goal scorer Gonzalo Peillat was handed a Penalty Corner and although he couldn't find a way to convert his drag-flick, a scramble in the D enabled Peillat to receive the ball again and he made sure to make it count. It was 2-0 Argentina at the break.
2nd Half, and Argentina started the half as the ended it when Lucas Villa got his name on the score sheet, producing a good finish. However South Africa did get a consolation goal, producing one of the goals of the tournament when Clinton Panther executed some fantastic skill to dribble the ball round the Argentinian defenders and slide the ball through the keeper and into the corner of the net. Great goal but it wasn't enough to start a comeback and this was all over when Lucas Villa produced some brilliant skill to work his way into the D and unleash a fierce shot, ending the game 5-1, putting Argentina into the Semi-Finals of the Hockey World Cup.

'The USA went into their final game of Pool B at the top of the standings but were up against South Africa looking to climb up into fourth place at the 2014 Rabobank Women's Hockey World Cup.
In a tense first half, South Africa's Sulette Damons was the stand-out player with her mazy runs. The USA came close to opening the scoring in the 31st minute when Paige Selenski was found unmarked in the circle but dragged her shot wide of the post. With a minute until halftime the USA were awarded a penalty stroke and Caroline Nichols put her nation 1-0 up.
Mere seconds into the second half, South Africa equalised through Marsha Cox after a long pass into the circle by Kathleen Taylor. The USA replied three minutes later and went 2-1 up after Katie Reinprecht converted a penalty corner with a diving effort. Unfortunately, Sulette Damons hurt her ankle whilst bravely defending the PC and had to be taken off. In the 45th minute, the USA were awarded their second penalty stroke of the game and this time Lauren Crandall stepped up and fired her team into a 3-1 lead. South Africa raced down the other half and drew the score back to 3-2 within a minute with Lisa-Marie Deetlefs scoring from a PC. Rachel Dawson extended the USA's lead to 4-2 in the 57th minute from another PC to ensure the American's place in the semi-finals.

'The host nation went up against New Zealand in the evening match of day 5 of the Rabobank Women's Hockey World Cup.
The Dutch made a blistering start and scored from their first penalty corner in the 4th minute with Carlien Dirkse van den Heuvel getting the deflection in front of goal in her 100th game for her nation. The Netherlands were completely controlling the game and New Zealand keeper Sally Rutherford was kept busy and had to make a number of great saves. It took a fantastic angled deflection from Kim Lammers to make it 2-0 to the Oranje with five minutes until half time.
The confident Dutch girls continued to control the game in the second half and peppered the goal with shots. Stacey Mitchelsen tested the Netherlands keeper with a powerful shot which was well saved in the Black Stick's best chance of the half. Xan de Waard then unselfishly passed to Kelly Jonker on a breakaway when she should have shot herself, but the 2-0 advantage was enough for the Netherlands to take all 3 points.
