Russell truly seemed to just lapse in judgement when he made the remark, attempting to piggyback on a hot subject, the Golden Globe-nominated film, but instead he came off as insensitive. He said he believed the 23-year-old actress is on the verge of burning out because of 'The Hunger Games' and compared her stressful workload to '12 Years A Slave.'  'Talk about 12 years of slavery, that's what the franchise ['The Hunger Games'] is. I think they should give her breathing room over there because they're printing money, but she's a very alive person.' He now tells Mail Online: 'Clearly, I used a stupid analogy in a poor attempt at humor.
