മേല്‍മുണ്ട് സമരം മാറുമറയ്ക്കല്‍ തുടങ്ങി പല പേരുകളില്‍ അറിയപ്പെട്ട ചാന്നാര്‍ ലഹള.ഇങ്ങ് തെക്കന്‍ തിരുവിതാംകൂറിലെ ചാന്നാര്‍ സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് പൊതുനിരത്തുകളില്‍ മാറ് മറയ്ക്കാനുള്ള അവകാശത്തിന് വേണ്ടി നടത്തിയ സമരം.മാറ് മറച്ച് നടക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചവരെ സവര്‍ണ്ണ വിഭാഗം ആക്രമിച്ചു.1859 ജനുവരി4ന് നാഗര്‍കോവിലിലെ കോട്ടാറില്‍ ചിന്നന്‍ നാടാരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ ചാന്നാര്‍മാര്‍ ലഹള തുടങ്ങി
തിരുപുറം അരുമാനൂര്‍ പൂത്തന്‍കട എന്നിവിടങ്ങളില്‍ കലാപം വ്യാപിച്ചു
1859 ഓടെ ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാര്‍ കലാപം അടിച്ചമര്‍ത്തി.എന്നാല്‍ ജൂലായ് 26ന് തിരുവിതാംകൂര്‍ രാജാവ് utram തിരുനാള്‍ മാര്‍ത്താണ്ഡവര്‍മ്മ വിളമ്പരം നടത്തി ചാന്നാര്‍ സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്ക് മാറ് മറയ്ക്കാനുള്ള അവകാശം നല്‍കി.1865 വരെ കാത്തിരിക്കേണ്ടി വന്നു ഈഴവര്‍ക്ക് മാറ് മറയ്ക്കാന്‍.1870കളില്‍ എല്ലാ ജാതിക്കാര്‍ക്കും മാറ് മറയ്ക്കാമെന്നായി.
