ഗാന്ധിജിയുടെ 150-ാം ജന്മദിനത്തില്‍ തടവുകാര്‍ക്ക് ശിക്ഷാ ഇളവ് നല്‍കാന്‍ ഒരുങ്ങുകയാണ് കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാര്‍.ബുധനാഴ്ച ചേര്‍ന്ന കേന്ദ്രമന്ത്രിസഭാ യോഗത്തിലാണ് ഇതുസംബന്ധിച്ച തീരുമാനമെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. ശിക്ഷാ കാലയളവിലെ 50 ശതമാനവും പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കിയ, സ്ത്രീകള്‍, ലൈംഗിക ന്യൂനപക്ഷങ്ങള്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ക്കാകും ഇളവ് ലഭിക്കുന്നതില്‍ മുന്‍ഗണന ലഭിക്കുക. അതേസമയം ക്രൂരമായ കൊലപാതകം അടക്കമുള്ള കുറ്റകൃത്യങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള കൊടുംകുറ്റവാളികള്‍ക്ക് ശിക്ഷാ ഇളവ് ലഭിക്കില്ല.
