Get ready to be appalled or intrigued in the checkout line: The tabloid National Enquirer has run a photo on its cover of what appears to be Whitney Houston lying in her casket.
Reportedly taken at the Whigham Funeral Home in New Jersey and showing the pop queen in a golden coffin, the photo has already sparked outrage among other press outlets. The Washington Post, for instance, said a line had been crossed in publishing the photo.
But as the Guardian points out, photos of dead celebrities in the press aren?t exactly a new trend, especially when it comes to tabloids. The Enquirer famously printed a photo of Elvis in his casket in 1977, and more recently a long list of publications ran a photo of Michael Jackson?s corpse after it became part of the trial of his former doctor Conrad Murray.
Nobody wants to be remembered next to Bat Boy, but don?t expect the Enquirer to get classy?they?re in the business of selling papers.

So they National Enquirer is known for posting some
pretty shocking and obscure photos, but I think this one takes the
cake!
The infamous tabloid has sparked outrage, once again, this time for
publishing a photograph of Whitney Houston apparently lying in her
open coffin.
The chilling image, which was allegedly taken at the family's private
service at a funeral home in New Jersey, was splashed across the
front cover of this week's edition.
It shows the late singer lying dead in her gold casket, wearing her
favorite purple dress and $500,000 worth of jewelry and gold
slippers.
The disturbing image was accompanied with the bold headline
'Whitney: The last photo!' The magazine does not reveal who took
the morbid photograph.
But this isn't the first time they've published such a morbid pic, they
famously did the same with Elvis in 1977. Do you think this is
completely tasteless and wrong?

Jessica Simpson caught some unexpected backlash on Monday, when she appeared on Katie Couric's new show with a photo of her four-month-old daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, wearing a bikini.
The new mom and Weight Watcher's spokeswoman appeared on 'Katie' to discuss her recent pregnancy and weight struggles; however, she is now facing criticism from Internet users and a British child welfare charity after sharing the photo of her daughter wearing a homemade crochet bikini over a diaper,.
'Motherhood is a dream,' Simpson told Couric on the show. 'It really is absolutely amazing. [Maxwell] had her first flight yesterday. Did not sleep! She didn't cry. She just wanted to babble.'
As the photograph of Maxwell was shown on the TV show, Simpson exclaimed, 'She's posing!' -- at which the audience 'awed' and Simpson added, 'It's her very first time to put on a bikini.'
In an interview with the New York Daily News, Couric defended her choice to have Simpson as her first guest on the show. 'We wanted to use [Monday's show] as an opportunity to help people. We saw that Jessica hadn't done any [interviews] and the struggle with her weight was something that I think a lot of women can relate to.''Jessica was refreshing, honest and charming,' added Couric.
But not everyone agreed about showing the baby in a bikin
