In India's stride towards economic and technological progress, international cooperation is a vital aspect of its foreign policy. In its quest to make meaningful developmental contribution to various countries, India has launched a series of programs to enhance human resource potential, skill development and capacity building in diverse fields.

Myanmar, a nation with which India shares a long historical, cultural and religious bonding, is one of the participating countries in India's development cooperation projects, such as the Indian Technical and Economical Cooperation scholarship program (ITEC) launched in 1964, along with the Technical Cooperation Scheme (TCS), Mekong-Ganga Cultural Scholarship Scheme and the General Cultural Scholarship Scheme. Through through a wide variety of courses with dedicated teachers and systematic curricula, India shares its knowledge and expertise to build capacities of hundreds of Myanmarese citizens.
