Only one day was reportedly needed for retakes.

പാരമ്പര്യമായി കിട്ടിയ ട്രക്ക് പ്രേമത്തോടൊപ്പം വിമാനഭ്രാന്തും തലയ്ക്ക് പിടിച്ചതാണ് ഇത്തരമൊരു ആശയം ഇവരുടെ തലയിലേക്കെത്താന് കാരണം. ഈ വ്യത്യസ്ത നിര്മിതിക്കായി കുടുംബം കാത്തിരുന്നത് ഒന്നും രണ്ടും വര്ഷമല്ല മറിച്ച് പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകളാണ്. പക്ഷേ ഈ കാത്തിരിപ്പും അവരുടെ ശ്രമവും വെറുതെ ആയില്ലെന്ന് ഇവര് നിര്മിച്ച എയര്പ്ലേന് എൻജിന് 1939 പ്ലിമത്ത് പിക്ക് അപ് ട്രക്കിന്റെ പ്രകടനം കണ്ടാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്ക് മനസ്സിലാകും. ട്രക്കിനെ കുറിച്ച് പറയും മുന്പ് ഈ കുടുംബത്തെ കുറിച്ച് ആദ്യം അറിയണം. എങ്കില് മാത്രമേ വിമാനവും ട്രക്കും കൂട്ടിയിണക്കുക എന്ന ഏറെക്കുറെ ഭ്രാന്തമായ ആശയത്തിലേക്ക് ഇവര് എങ്ങനെയെത്തി എന്നു വ്യക്തമാകൂ. ഗാരി കോണ്സ്, ആലീസ് എന്നിവരും മക്കളായ ആദമും എറിക്കും ചേര്ന്നതാണ് കോണ്സ് കുടുംബം. വിവാഹത്തിന് ശേഷം ആലീസിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിന്റേതായിരുന്ന വാഹനഗാരേജ് ഗാരിയും ആലീസും ചേര്ന്ന് ഏറ്റെടുത്തു. വാഹനങ്ങളോടുള്ള പ്രണയമാണ് ഇരുവരും ചേര്ന്ന് ഈ ഗാരേജ് ഏറ്റെടുക്കാന് കാരണം. ഗാരേജുകളുടെ വാഹനങ്ങളില് പരീക്ഷണങ്ങള് നടത്തുന്നതിനിടെയാണ് കഥയിലെ നായകനായ 1939 പ്ലേമൌത്ത് ട്രക്കിന്റെ വരവ്.
എൺപതുകളുടെ ആദ്യത്തിൽ 500 ഡോളറിനാണ് ഈ ട്രക്കിനെ ഗാരി വാങ്ങുന്നത്.
കണ്ടപ്പോഴുള്ള കൊതി കൊണ്ടു വാങ്ങിയെങ്കിലും ഈ ട്രക്ക് എന്തു ചെയ്യണമെന്ന ധാരണ ഗാരിയ്ക്ക് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. കാരണം ട്രക്കിന്റെ സ്പെയര് പാര്ട്ടുകളൊന്നും കിട്ടാനുണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. ഏതായാലും പിന്നീട് 30 വര്ഷത്തോളം ഈ ട്രക്ക് ഗാരേജില് പൊടി പിടിച്ച് കിടന്നു. എന്നാല് ഗാരേജിലേക്ക് മറ്റൊരു അതിഥി എത്തിയതോടെ ട്രക്കിന്റെ വിശ്രമജീവിതം അവസാനിച്ചു. 2009 ഗാരി കോണ്സ് വാങ്ങിയ 1950 മോഡല് സീ പ്ലെയിനായിരുന്നു ആ അതിഥി. ട്രക്കില് വിമാനത്തിന്റെ എൻജിന് ഘടിപ്പിക്കുക എന്ന ഭ്രാന്തമായ ആശയത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായാണ് ഗാരി ഈ വിമാനം ഗാരേജിലേക്ക് കെട്ടി വലിച്ച് എത്തിച്ചത്. വിമാനത്തിന്റെ എൻജിന് കാറില് എങ്ങനെ ഉപയോഗിക്കും എന്ന് ഗാരിയുടെ മക്കള് പോലും ആദ്യം അമ്പരന്നു. എന്
