Residents of Ramtolem and Sainagar in Aldona, on Saturday, stopped the ongoing work of a material recovery facility (MRF) shed, being constructed by the Aldona panchayat following the High Court orders. The villagers came together to strongly oppose the shed, which is coming up in a property adjacent to a temple. They said they are not against the project, but pointed out that the site selected for it is not ideal since it is close to Ramtaleshwar temple. They demanded shifting of the project to another location. Earlier, the villagers had written to the authorities, including the Bardez deputy collector, the mamlatdar, the Goa State Pollution Control Board, the block development officer, the sarpanch and the secretary demanding that the work be stopped.
