Almost seven years after it was declared unsafe by the Goa Engineering College, the Ponda Municipality has finally began the process to demolish around 60-year-old Shastri hall building located in the heart of the town, located behind the police station. Commencing the process, the municipality evacuated the businesses running in the shops located on the ground floor of the building on Wednesday and decided to demolish the entire structure by Thursday. Speaking about the demolishing, chairperson Ritesh Naik said that after a long procedure, the municipality has finally commenced the demolition work.
