Around 40-50 heavy vehicle drivers gather near Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium at Bambolim and portested against the new hit-and-run law which was passed by the Parliament. The law imposes stricter penalties for drivers who flee the accident scene after a hit-and-run accident with jail term of 10 years and a fine of Rs 7 lakh. One of the driver said that the jail term of 10 years is fine provided all the vehicles are fitted with Camera's. He said most of the time, the truckers runaway from the site with the fear that they will be penalised for no fault of theirs but if camera's are installed, the drivers will be rest assured that they won't be falsly implicated. The drivers also demanded that their salaries should be made Rs.50,000/
