Panaji police have introduced bicycle patrolling along the 5-kilometre stretch from the promenade to the walking/cycling track on the banks of river Mandovi. Police have deployed two electric cycles to man this no-motor zone. The cycles have been procured under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity. North Goa SP Nidhin Valsan said, “Everyday many people take morning or evening walks along this 5-kilometre stretch. As this is a no-motor zone, it will take a long time for a policeman to walk from one end to the other in case of any calls pertaining to nuisance or drinking in public places.” He said, “Owing to this, we have introduced two cycles to patrol. The cycle can attain speed of around 25 km/hour and can reach the spot immediately. There have been some complaints regarding nuisance and drinking in public along this route,” said Valsan.
