It is said he occupies the ruins of an old temple believed to have been built by the Pandavas. Belief has it that devotees are required to build a temple for him within a night. Every year, for Dussehra, assembled devotees assure the deity that they will build him a temple. Those who do not fulfill their promise, invite the wrath of the deity because of which the deity tries to return to its original place. Then, in the chants of ‘Bandh tu saayba’ the locals try to cool down the deity’s temper. Only then, does the tarang return back to its place (Umbrella-like object that is decorated with flowers and cloth said to represent the deity of the festival) – one of Shree Bhootnath and the other of Shree Rawalnath
