आज अंतर्राष्ट्रीय गरीबी उन्मूलन दिवस है। पूरे विश्व में प्रत्येक 17 अक्टूबर को गरीबी उन्मूलन दिवस मनाया जाता है। आपको बता दें कि संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा 22 दिसंबर 1992 को प्रत्येक वर्ष 17 अक्टूबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर गरीबी उन्मूलन दिवस मनाने की घोषणा की गई थी। इस दिवस को मनाने का मुख्य उद्देश्य गरीबी में रह रहे लोगों के संघर्ष को जानने, समझने और उनकी कठिनाइयों को दूर करने के प्रयासों का मौका देना है।
लेकिन क्या गरीबी को दूर करने के प्रयासों में सफलता मिल रही है। वैसे तो हमारे देश में प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना और मुख्यमंत्री आवास योजना जैसी विभिन्न योजनाएं चल रही हैं जिसके तहत देश के काफी पात्र लोगों को लाभ भी मिला है। लेकिन जमीनी स्तर पर देखें तो अभी भी काफी परिवार ऐसे हैं जिन्हें सरकार की कल्याणकारी योजनाओं का लाभ नही मिल पाया है। ऐसा ही एक परिवार है जनपद बिजनौर के स्योहारा का जहां परिवार के लोग पन्नी की छत के नीचे अपने गुज़र बसर करने को मजबूर हैं। परिवार के मुखिया अशरफ़ अली का कहना है कि वह विभिन्न आवास योजनाओं के लिए कई बार आवेदन कर चुके हैं लेकिन उनकी कहीं कोई सुनवाई नही हुई।
अब सोचने की बात यह है कि एक ओर जहां अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर गरीबी दूर करने के लिए विचार गोष्ठियों का आयोजन किया जा रहा है, विभिन्न देशों के मुखियाओं द्वारा बड़े बड़े दावे किये जा रहे हैं लेकिन अभी भी काफी पात्र लोग ऐसे हैं जिन्हें गरीबी दूर करने के लिए दर दर की ठोकरें खानी पड़ती हैं। स्योहारा से हमारे संवाददाता नजम सिद्दीकी ने स्योहार के उस परिवार से ग्राउंड लेवल पर जाकर हालात जाने जो इस आधुनिक समय में भी पन्नी की छत के नीचे अपना जीवन यापन कर रहे हैं।
