വ്യത്യസ്തങ്ങളായ വിശ്വാസങ്ങളാണ് ഓരോ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെയും കാതൽ. ഒരു തവണ പോയി പ്രാർഥിച്ചാൽ 16 തവണ കാശിക്കു പോകുന്നതിനു തുല്യമാകുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുംം ശനിയുടെ അപഹാരങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്ന വിശ്വാസമുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുമടക്കം ധാരാളം ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ നമ്മുടെ നാട്ടിലുണ്ട്. ചില ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ ലോകാവസാനം പ്രവചിക്കുമ്പോൾ മറ്റു ചിലത് കഴിഞ്ഞ കാലത്തിന്റെ അടയാളങ്ങളായി നിലകൊള്ളുകയാണ്. ഇങ്ങനെ ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് തമിഴ്നാട്ടിൽ വിവാഹം നടക്കുവാനായി ആളുകള് പ്രാർഥിക്കുവാനെത്തുന്ന മണവാളേശ്വർ ക്ഷേത്രം. ഇവിടെ എത്തി മനസ്സറിഞ്ഞു പ്രാർഥിച്ചാൽ കൃത്യം ഒരു വർഷത്തിനുള്ളിൽ വിവാഹം നടക്കുമത്രെ. മണവാളേശ്വർ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ വിശേഷങ്ങളിലേക്ക്!!
തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ നാഗപട്ടിണം ജില്ലയിൽ വെൽവിക്കുടി എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രശസ്തമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ശ്രീ മണവാളേശ്വർ ക്ഷേത്രം.
കല്യാണ സുന്ദരേശ്വർ ക്ഷേത്രം എന്നും ഇത് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. വിവാഹ സംബന്ധമായ കാര്യങ്ങൾക്കും പ്രാർഥനകൾക്കും പ്രശസ്തമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണിത്. അവിവാഹിതർ ഇവിടെ എത്തി പ്രാർഥിച്ചാൽ കൃത്യം ഒരു വർഷത്തിനുള്ളിൽ വിവാഹം നടക്കുമത്രെ. വിവാഹ സംബന്ധമായ എല്ലാ ദോഷങ്ങൾക്കും പരിഹാരം നടത്തുവാൻ പറ്റിയ ക്ഷേത്രം കൂടിയാണിത്. ഇവിടെ 48 ദീപങ്ങൾ തെളിയിച്ച് പ്രാർഥിച്ചാൽ മതി എന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം.എല്ലാ പൗർണ്ണമി ദിവസങ്ങളിലും ഇവിടെ രാവിലെ 10 മുതൽ വൈകിട്ട് 4.00 വരെ നീണ്ടു നിൽക്കുന്ന ഒരു പൂജ നടത്താറുണ്ട്. അന്നേദിവസം വിവാഹത്തിന് തടസ്സം നേരിടുന്നവര് ഇതിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത് പ്രാർഥിച്ചാൽ മതിയത്രെ. അഭിഷേകവും അർച്ചനയും നടത്തിയാൽ എല്ലാം ശരിയാകുമത്രെ.
ചരിത്ര രേഖകളിൽ അത്രയൊന്നും പരാമർശിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ലെങ്കിലും ചരിത്രവുമായി ചേർന്നു കിടക്കുന്നതു തന്നെയാണ് മണവാളേശ്വർ ക്ഷേത്രവും.
ഇവിടുത്തെ ശിലാ ലിഖിതങ്ങളിൽ ചോള രാജവംശത്തിന്റെയത്രയും പഴക്കുണ്ടെന്നാണ് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നത്. പരാന്തക ചോളൻ ഒന്നാമന്റെയും റാണി സെമ്പിയം മാദേവിയുടെയും കാലത്താണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം കല്ലിൽ പുനർ നിർമ്മിച്ചത് എന്നാണ് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നത്. ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും ംനോഹരമായ വിവാഹം എന്നു വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത് ശിവന്റെയും പാർവ്വതിയുടെയും വിവാഹമാണല
