The accused identified as Shivam Chopra and his accomplice Sachin Jain were arrested from Tri Nagar.
The police have further claimed to have recovered Rs 12 lakh in cash, 25 mobile phones and 40 bank passbooks. “The accused had ordered expensive phones like Samsung, Iphone, One Plus. Chopra had opted for cash on delivery on all their orders and would pay through gift vouchers. He then would falsely claim that he never received the phone and ask for a refund in the form of a gift voucher,” said a police officer.
The case came to light in June when the complainant in the case, Syed Ishaq (36) filed a complaint on behalf of Amazon Seller Services Private Limited alleging that a total of 166 orders for mobile phones were placed between April 2017 and May 2017.
