Sylvester Stallone has long hinted that he wanted Mel Gibson to be involved in Expendables 3, and it sounds like he may get his wish. Stallone loves thinking out loud, via his twitter page, and back in April he tweeted that he was curious about whether or not people liked the idea of Gibson being the helmer for Expendables 3? However, soon after those tweets hit the internet, we learned that Red Hill director, Patrick Hughes was tapped to take on directing duties for the third installment. But don't mark Mel Gibson off your list of Expendables hopefuls just yet, because ShowBiz411 is hearing from a source that Gibson may still be involved in the third installment as the villain in the new movie. If confirmed, this won't be the first time Gibson would get to play a villain...and I do mean in his professional life. We will also see him play the bad guy in the Robert Rodriquez directed action sequel, Machete Kills. Gibson would be joining a stellar ensemble cast which includes Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, and Terry Crews and there are a lot of other big actors rumored to be in final negotiations for new roles, including Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan, and Mila Jovovich. Expendables 3 is slatted for an August 2014 release..
