Pacific Rim is a story about the monstrous Kaiju, who rise from the ocean to unleash an all out war on humanity. After attempts to fight the Kaiju fail, the future of the world rests in the hands of a washed up former pilot and a trainee. The reviews are already coming in from critics everywhere, and from the way it sounds, people are generally liking what they've seen. The Hollywood reporter calls it A better-and-smarter-than-average humans-vs.-monsters spectacular. And one critic at Film.com thought that del Toro makes you feel like a kid again but in an impressive way saying quote 'They don't let 14 year-old boys direct multi-million dollar feature films, but somehow Guillermo Del Toro has channeled the interests, attitudes and fears from that mindset with a clarity that far surpasses contemporaries like Michael Bay.' And Time Out New York agreed saying quote 'Though everything we see is pure, pleasurable comic-book absurdity, Del Toro somehow lends a plausible humanity to the proceedings, one lacking in most of this summer's city-destroying blockbusters.'
