Waterless in Rio: Can't fight against govt or AFI, but god & I know the truth, says marathon runner OP Jaisha
After reports emerged about OP Jaisha collapsing by the end of her marathon at the Rio Olympics due to no Indian official present to give her water, Athletics Federation of India (AFI) released a statement saying that the athlete and her coach had refused to avail energy drinks being presented by organisers. Jaisha reacted strongly to this, saying that cameras can be checked for an inquiry.

मैराथन रनर ओपी जैशा ने बड़ा खुलासा किया है कि वो रियो ओलंपिक में पानी नहीं मिलने के कारण फिनिश लाइन पर ही बेहोश हो गई थी...जैशा ने आरोप लगाया है कि जब वो मैराथन में हिस्सा ले रही थीं तब भारत की ओर से कोई भी अधिकारी उन्हें पानी देने के लिए नहीं था...जबकि मैराथन का नियम है कि हाइड्रेटिंग से बचने के लिए ओलंपिक अधिकारी हर ढाई किलोमीटर पर पानी के लिए स्टॉल की व्यवस्था करते हैं। जैशा के आरोपों पर AFI ने सफाई देते हुए आरोपों से इनकार किया है,, AFI ने कहा कि जैशा ने खुद ही अपने लिए खास ड्रिंक लेने से मना किया था... एएफआई के सचिव सी के वाल्सन भी रियो में मौजूद थे,,, उन्होंने कहा कि यह आयोजकों की जिम्मेदारी होती है कि वे पानी और एनर्जी ड्रिंक मुहैया कराये। इसके लिये पूरे कोर्स में पानी और एनर्जी ड्रिंक के कई स्टेशन होते हैं। हम भी अपने एथलीटों को पानी और एनर्जी ड्रिंक दे सकते थे लेकिन किसी ने भी और न ही उनके कोचों ने हमें इसके बारे में सूचित किया कि उन्हें अलग से पानी और एनर्जी ड्रिंक की जरूरत है। जब इस घटना के बारे में खेल मंत्री विजय गोयल से पूछा गया तो उन्होंने कहा, कि यह भारतीय एथलेटिक्स महासंघ की जिम्मेदारी थी। उन्होंने कहा कि हर बार कोई छोटी घटना होती है तो हम इसका संज्ञान लेते हैं। यह एएफआई का काम था, यह महासंघ की जिम्मेदारी है, उन्हें इसकी जिम्मेदारी लेनी चाहिए थी
