Facebook Apologizes For Fake 'Trending' Story on Megyn Kelly

Facebook is apologizing after featuring a fake, sensational news story about Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly in its influential “Trending” topics section?. The story, which has since been removed from the list, falsely claimed that the cable channel had fired Kelly for being 'a closet liberal who actually wants Hillary to win.' The story about Kelly's supposed firing came from the right-wing website End The Fed, which boasts headlines like “What Obama Has to Say About 'White Folks' Will Make Your Blood Boil' and 'Eric Bolling Exposes New Dirty Tricks Clintons Used to Escape Jail Time and Become Millionaires.' Sean Hannity Responds To Fox's Megyn Kelly News - 8/8/13

8/8/13 - 'Hannity says: 'He's leaving it out there to figure it out.'' That the inscrutable quote Sean Hannity predicted would be picked up in the press after he coyly dismissed the rumors that Megyn Kelly's ascension to his 9pm time slot could mean anything bad for his career. Without giving anything about his own future away, Hannity said he's 'very happy' with the result.

'By the way has there been any news today on the Drudge Report?' Hannity asked his radio show co-hosts today. 'Anything I missed?' He said, 'I am actually enjoying people that really don't know a whole lot, just going nuts. So I'm going to leave it there, just for fun. And these comments will be picked up now. Hannity says: 'He's leaving it out there to figure it out.' Let's just say in the end I'm very happy. That's all I can say at this point.'

'Because everybody thinks they know everything and they don't,' Hannity continued. 'It's pretty funny. I love people speculating. And of course the Hannity haters come out in full force: 'I hate Hannity. I can't stand him. He's dumb. He's stupid. He's a right wing nut job.' I love that, too. And if I wasn't hated, I wouldn't be doing my job now would I?'

So, for all of us blindly speculating out here, all we can really deduce is that Han

Sean Hannity Responds To Megyn Kelly Primetime Rumor

Sean Hannity reacted to the rumor that Fox News' Megyn Kelly would be taking over his 9:00 p.m. time slot in prime time.

According to Thursday's Drudge Report, 'top sources' said that Kelly would be moving to Hannity's 9:00 p.m. hour and that the announcement would be made later in August.

Hannity also reacted to the rumor on Thursday, but did not confirm or deny its validity. 'I am actually enjoying people that really don’t know a whole lot, just going nuts. So I’m going to leave it there, just for fun,' Hannity said on his radio show. 'Let's just say in the end, I'm very happy. That's all I can say at this point.'

TVNewser reported that Fox News chief Roger Ailes addressed the rumor during a 21st Century Fox investors conference on the same day, saying that he would not comment on Kelly's primetime gig. He did tease upcoming announcements that not only seemed to impact Kelly and Hannity, but Fox News' beloved daytime and cable primetime host, Shep Smith. While the network's specific plans remain a mystery, one thing is quite clear: the number one cable news network that has not touched its prime time lineup in many years is about to implement some major changes.

Megyn Kelly Getting Sean Hannity's 9 PM Slot: Drudge Report

When Fox News announced that Megyn Kelly was going to be moving from daytime to primetime, it did not specify what hour she would be taking over.

According to a 'flash' from Matt Drudge on Thursday, that hour is 9 PM — which is better-known as the time when Sean Hannity's show airs.

Drudge cited anonymous 'top sources' in his report, and said that the announcement would be made later in August.

The big question, if the report were to prove true, would be what happens to Hannity. He is signed to a long-term contract that will reportedly keep him on the network through the 2016 election. His other prime-time colleagues, Bill O'Reilly and Greta Van Susteren, are also signed for years. Recently, Van Susteren responded to rumors that she would be bumped by Kelly by saying she had a contract for a daily, primetime show.

UPDATE: Fox News chief Roger Ailes dropped some big hints about what changes might be afoot during an interview on Thursday. Ailes said that he has been working with Shep Smith, who anchors the network's 3 and 7 PM hours, on a 'a new way to deliver news' that would be unveiled in September—just around the time Kelly returns from maternity leave. This raised the possibility that Smith would also be involved in whatever changes Kelly's ascension prompts.
