T20 World Cup 2021: Kapil Dev Slams Indian Players After Early Exit From T20 WC 2021 And More News

Soon after the 2021 T20 World Cup, the Indian cricket team will clash with New Zealand at home in a three-match T20I series. This series is scheduled to commence on 17th November 2021.

And, several marquee players, including batting legend Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja are all set to be rested for the series against the Kiwis.

The squad for India’s T20I series against New Zealand is expected to be named on 8th November 2021. The Indian side will be led by Rohit Sharma for this T20I series, and there are also rumours that Kohli might be removed as the ODI captain as well, with Sharma taking over the reins of the Indian side in limited-overs cricket.

Former India all-rounder and World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev reckons that the BCCI and Indian team must immediately start plotting their plans for the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled to be played in Australia next year.

His comments come after India were officially knocked out of the ongoing multi-team event, which is the first occasion since 2012 when the team has taken an exit in the league stage of an ICC tournament.

“It’s time to look at the future. You should start planning right away. It’s not that since the World Cup is over, the Indian team’s entire cricket is too. Go and plan. I just feel that there should have been some gap between IPL and the World Cup. But this is certainly there that our players today have a lot of exposure but they could not make the most of it,” Kapil said on ABP News.

Australia will tour Pakistan for three Tests, three ODIs and a one-off T20I between March 3 to April 5, 2022, in what will be their first tour of the Asian nation in 24 years. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the development on November 8. The series will start with the first Test in Karachi, followed by the second encounter in Rawalpindi, while the remainder of the series will .

Virat Kohli To Step Down As T20I Captain After The T20 World Cup 2021 And More News

India skipper Virat Kohli has announced that he will step down as the T20 captain after the upcoming World Cup to be played in the UAE and Oman. Reports surfaced a few days ago that Kohli will resign as India’s white-ball skipper with Rohit Sharma set to take over. However, the BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal had clearly denied such reports calling it ‘rubbish.’

But Kohli’s revelation has certainly stunned the cricketing world as he has cleared that he wants to manage his workload and concentrate on Test and ODI cricket. Having said that, the 32-year-old will continue playing in the shortest format of the game as a player.

The man himself took to Twitter and posted a statement thanking his players for supporting him during his journey at the helm in T20Is. “I have been fortunate enough to not only represent India but also lead the Indian Cricket Team to my utmost capability. I thank everyone who has supported me in my journey as the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team. I couldn’t have done it without them – the boys, the support staff, the selection committee, my coaches and each and every Indian who prayed for us to win,” Kohli wrote.

Sri Lanka Cricket vehemently denies allegations levelled by certain media reports, which cited that some of the players in the Sri Lanka National team, who played in the T20i series against South Africa, did not fully commit themselves or deliberately underperformed on the field.

Sri Lanka Cricket has not received such a complaint from the ‘Team Management’ against any player of the National squad. Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to inform you that it was the same group of players who played in the ODI series which Sri Lanka won against South Africa.

Pakistan left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir was included in the list of contracted players for domestic cricket in Category A by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), but Amir turned down the offer made to him.
