सोलन में कुछ दिन पहले पानी की समस्या विकराल रूप ले चुकी थी । शहर वासियों को पानी पांचवें दिन मिल रहा था। जिस कारण शहर वासियों में भारी रोष देखा जा रहा था। पानी न आने का सबसे बड़ा कारण कोहरा पड़ना था । अधिक कोहरा और अत्याधिक ठंड होने के कारण पाइपें फट रही थी जिसकी वजह से आईपीएच विभाग पानी की आपूर्ति नही कर पा रहा था पानी के टैंक खाली हो चुके थे। जब इस बात की खबर आईपीएच अधिशासी अभियंता रविकांत शर्मा को लगी तो उन्होंने खुद मोर्चा संभाला। कई किलोमीटर पैदल चल कर उस स्थान पर पहुंचे जहां बार बार पाइप फट रही थी। उन्होंने न केवल पाइप फटने का कारण जाना बल्कि उसे ठीक भी किया।
