വീടുകളും പരിസരവും വൃത്തിയാക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി മലിന ജലവുമായി സംബര്‍ക്കതിലകേണ്ടിവരിക സ്വാഭാവികം. ഈ സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ എലിപ്പനിയെ പ്രതിരോധിക്കാന്‍ ചെയ്യേണ്ട കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ എന്തെല്ലാം ?ലെപ്‌റ്റോസ്‌പൈറ വിഭാഗത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ബാക്ടീരിയ മൂലമുണ്ടാകുന്ന എലിപ്പനി.രോഗാണു വാഹകരായ ജന്തുക്കളുടെ വൃക്കകളിലാണ് ലെപ്ടോസ്പൈറ കുടിയിരിക്കുന്നത് . അത്കൊണ്ട്തണനെ എലികളുടെ മൂത്രത്തിലൂടെയാണ് രോഗാണുക്കൾ പുറത്തുവരുന്നത്. ലെപ്ടോസ്പൈറ ശരീരത്തിൽ കടന്നു 5-6 ദിവസങ്ങൾക്കുള്ളിലാണ് രോഗലക്ഷണങ്ങൾ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുക.എലികളും മറ്റും സന്ദർശിക്കാറുള്ള ജലാശയങ്ങൾ ,ഓടകൾ, കുളങ്ങൾ, കൃഷിയിടങ്ങൾ, പാടങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയിൽ വേണ്ടത്ര മുൻ കരുതലുകൾ ഇല്ലാതെ ഇറങ്ങുകയോ, ജോലി ചെയ്യുകയോ , കുളിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നതിലുടെ രോഗാണു മനുഷ്യ ശരീരത്തിൽ എത്തുന്നു . കൈകാലുകളിൽ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന പോറലുകൾ, മുറിവുകൾ , കണ്ണ്, മൂക്ക് , വായ്‌ എന്നിവയിലൂടെ രോഗാണു മനുഷ്യ ശരീരത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നു. കണ്ണിലുള്ള പോറലുകളിൽക്കൂടിപ്പോലും മുഖം കഴുകുമ്പോൾ രോഗബാധ ഉണ്ടാകാം കുടിക്കുന്ന വെള്ളത്തിലൂടെയും രോഗബാധ ഉണ്ടാകാം.കാലിലോ ശരീരത്തിലോ മുറിവുള്ളപ്പോൾ വെള്ളക്കെട്ടുള്ള സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ ഇറങ്ങാതെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക.രോഗ സാദ്ധ്യത ഏറിയ മേഖലകളിൽ പണിയെടുക്കുന്നവർ, ആരോഗ്യ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിൽ ലഭ്യമായ പ്രതിരോധ ചികിത്സ മുൻകൂട്ടി സ്വീകരിക്കുക.തിളപ്പിച്ച വെള്ളം മാത്രം കുടിക്കുക.ഭക്ഷണ പദാർഥങ്ങൾ അടച്ചു സൂക്ഷിക്കുക.മൃഗ പരിപാലനത്തിന് ശേഷം കൈകാലുകൾ സോപ്പുപയോഗിച്ചു ശുദ്ധ ജലത്തിൽ കഴുകുകശക്തമായ വിറയലോടുകൂടിയ പനി, കുളിര് , തളർച്ച , ശരീരവേദന, തലവേദന , ഛർദ്ദി എന്നിവയാണ്‌ പ്രാരംഭ ലക്ഷണങ്ങൾ.ആന്തരാവയവങ്ങളെ ബാധിക്കാത്ത താരതമ്യേന ലഘുവായ എലിപ്പനിബാധയ്ക്ക് പ്രാഥമിക ആരോഗ്യകേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിലെ യോ സാമൂഹിക ആരോഗ്യകേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിലെയോ ഒ.പി. ചികിത്സയും നിരീക്ഷണവും മതിയാകും. സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ എല്ലാ ആശുപത്രികളിലും എലിപ്പനി ചികിത്സയ്ക്കുള്ള മരുന്നുകൾ ലഭ്യമാണ്.
