Team India’s next assignment in the longest format is a five-match Test series against hosts England, starting from August 4. However, the visitors suffered a massive blow ahead of the crucial series with opener Shubman Gill sustaining a stress-related injury in his left leg. Although an official announcement is yet to come, the young batsman is all but likely to get ruled out of the entire tour.

This is indeed not a great piece of news for the Virat Kohli-led side as Gill has been a vital cog of the Test team ever since making his debut in the format last December. Although India have a potent backup opener in Mayank Agarwal, they will be short of choices if either Agarwal or Rohit Sharma develop any injuries midway in the tour.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to give a Rs 100 crore infrastructure grant to Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) for helping it build the new stadium in Jaipur. Over the past few years, barring the Indian Premier League (IPL) games, for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), international matches have not taken place much in the city.

If reports are to believed, after the Motera stadium in Ahemadabad and Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Australia, the upcoming new Jaipur stadium will be the third-largest cricket stadium in the world. The Motera can host up to 1,10,000 capacity crowd and the MCG can fill up to 1,00,000. With RCA set to get 100 crores from the BCCI, the new stadium is planning to fill up to 75,000 people.

England and Sussex pacer Ollie Robinson has been allowed to resume international cricket as England Cricket Board’s probe has come to a close. The pacer was suspended from international cricket pending the board’s investigation over his offensive tweets that had resurfaced during his Test debut at Lord’s against New Zealand in June 2021.

The ECB’s disciplinary committee has handed Robinson an eight-match ban, five of which are suspended for two years, for his offens.
