भारत ने खुद का नेविगेशन सैटेलाइट सिस्टम IRNSS-1G श्रीहरिकोटा से लॉन्च कर दिया है। भारतीय वैज्ञानिक बीते 17 साल से इसके लिए मेहनत कर रहे थे। इसे इसरो की एक बड़ी कामयाबी माना जा रहा है । इस सैटेलाइट की मदद से न सिर्फ भारत के दूर दराज के इलाकों की सही लोकेशन पता चल पाएगी, बल्कि यातायात भी काफी आसान हो जाएगा।प्रतिबंधित सर्विस को मिलिटरी मिसाइल डिलिवरी के लिए इस्तेमाल करेगी। एयरक्राफ्ट को ट्रैक करने और उसके नेविगेशन के लिए भी इसे इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा।इस स्वदेशी नेविगेशन सिस्टम से हवाई और समुद्री नेविगेशन में मदद मिलेगी। मछुआरों को सही जानकारी मिल सकेगी। आपदा के प्रबंधन में आसानी होगी।यह सैटलाइट सड़क पर चलती गाड़ी और लोगों पर भी नजर रख पाएगा।

രാജ്യത്ത് ആദ്യമായി സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ മുഴുവൻ സ്കൂൾ ബസിലും തിങ്കളാഴ്ച മുതൽ ജി.പി.എസ് സംവിധാനം നിലവിൽ വരും.
ആദ്യഘട്ടമായി സ്കൂൾ ബസുകളിലും തുടർന്ന് സ്വകാര്യ-കെ.എസ്.ആർ.ടി.സി ബസുകളിലും ടാങ്കറുകളിലും ചരക്കുവാഹനങ്ങളിലും ഇത് നിർബന്ധമാക്കും. നിശ്ചിത ദിവസത്തിനകം ജി.പി.എസ്ഘടിപ്പിക്കാത്ത വാഹനങ്ങൾ നിരത്തിലിറക്കാൻ അനുവദിക്കില്ലെന്ന മുന്നറിയിപ്പും ഗതാഗത കമീഷണർ നൽകി. ഇത്തരം വാഹനങ്ങൾക്ക് പരിശോധന സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് നൽകില്ല. ഡ്രൈവർമാരുടെ അശ്രദ്ധകൊണ്ടും അല്ലാതെയും സ്കൂൾ വാഹനങ്ങൾ നിരന്തരം അപകടത്തിൽപെടുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തിലാണ് ഈ നടപടി.
ഇതിന് വെഹിക്കിൾ ട്രാക്കിങ് മാനേജ്മൻറ് സിസ്റ്റം എന്ന സോഫ്റ്റ്വെയറിന് രൂപം നൽകിയിരുന്നു. തലസ്ഥാനത്തെ ഗതാഗത കമീഷണറേറ്റിലാവും കേന്ദ്രീകൃത കൺട്രോൾ റൂം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുക. മുഴുവൻ ആർ.ടി.ഒ ഒാഫിസിലും ഇൗ സംവിധാനം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. ഇതിലൂടെ എല്ലാ വാഹനങ്ങളും നിരീക്ഷിക്കാൻ മോട്ടോർ വാഹനവകുപ്പ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർക്ക് കഴിയും.അപകടരഹിത ഡ്രൈവിങ്ങാണ് ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നത്. അമിതവേഗത്തിൽ പായുന്ന വാഹനങ്ങൾ പിടികൂടുന്നതോടൊപ്പം, അപകടസാധ്യത കണ്ടെത്താനും, സംശയകരമായ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ നിർത്തിയിടുന്നതുമായ വാഹനങ്ങളെ ഈ സംവിധാനത്തിലൂടെ കാണാനാവും. പെൺകുട്ടികൾക്ക് നേരെയുള്ള അതിക്രമങ്ങൾ, അനാവശ്യ പ്രവണതകൾ, മോശം പെരുമാറ്റങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയെല്ലാം മാസ്റ്റർ കൺട്രോൾ റൂമിൽ അറിയാനാവും. വിവരങ്ങളുടെ സന്ദേശം എസ്.എം.എസ് ആയി വകുപ്പ് ആസ്ഥാനത്തിന് പുറമെ സ്കൂൾ അധികൃതർക്കും പൊലീസിനും മോട്ടോർ വാഹന വകുപ്പ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർക്കും ലഭിക്കും. രക്ഷിതാക്കൾക്കും ബസിന്‍റെ ഗതി അറിയാനാവും. സംവിധാനം നിലവിൽവരുന്നതോടെ വാഹന പരിശോധന കർശനമാക്കാൻ ഗതാഗത വകുപ്പ് കമീഷണർ നിർദേശം നൽകി. 15 കമ്പനിയുടെ മോഡലുകളാണ് ഗതാഗത വകുപ്പ് അംഗീകരി

भारत सरकार विदेशी चीजों से अपनी निर्भरता कम करने पर लगातार काम कर रही है और इसी कड़ी में एक अहम फैसला लिया गया है। भारत सरकार ने सैमसंग, एपल, शाओमी और वीवो जैसी स्मार्टफोन कंपनियों को भारतीय नेविगेशन सिस्टम नाविक (NavIC) के सपोर्ट के साथ स्मार्टफोन लॉन्च करने के आदेश दिए हैं। फिलहाल देश में स्मार्टफोन में नेविगेशन के लिए ग्लोबल पोजीशनिंग सिस्टम यानि GPS का इस्तेमाल हो रहा है। इस आदेश के बाद इन कंपनियों को अपने स्मार्टफोन के हार्डवेयर में बदलाव में आने वाली लागत का डर सताने लगा है। सरकार का कहना है कि नाविक से नेविगेशन को और बेहतर बनाया जा सकता है, क्योंकि यह ज्यादा सटीक है और इससे देश की इकोनॉमी को भी फायदा होगा।
