However, Keith still managed to convince her to get two of her own tattoos - by paying her £1,500 to have them done. Keith says his latest venture is due to obsessive compulsive disorder which has 'ruled his life'. Mr Gordon, who earns about £30,000 per year, says he changes his lifestyle dramatically every few years when a new obsession comes into his life. He had his arms and shoulders tattooed at 17 before changing his mind and having them removed with skin grafts to become a white-collar worker. He then led a carefree life in Soho and travelled the world - before becoming obsessed with marrying and having a family. His shocking look has put him at odds with his children Jamie-Lee, 11, Ricky, eight, Jennifer, five, and his stepdaughter Diana Rose, 14, as well as his wife's family in the Philippines.

    നമ്മുടെയൊക്കെ നിത്യജീവിതത്തിലെ സംഭാഷണങ്ങളില്‍ സ്ഥിരം കടന്ന് വരാറുള്ളതും എന്നാല്‍ ഭൂരിഭാഗം പേരും അബദ്ധധാരണകള്‍ വെച്ച്‌ പുലര്‍ത്തുന്നതുമായ രോഗമാണ് OCD എന്ന മാനസികരോഗം .പേര് സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് പോലെ തന്നെ obsessive compulsive disorder ന്റെ പ്രധാന ഘടകങ്ങള്‍ ഒബ്സെഷനുകളും കംപല്‍ഷനുകളുമാണ്. ഒബ്സെഷന്‍ എന്നത് കൊണ്ട് ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നത് തുടര്‍ച്ചയായും അനിയന്ത്രിതമായും ഒരു വ്യക്തിയുടെ മനസ്സിലേക്ക് അതിക്രമിച്ചു കടന്ന് വരുന്ന (ആഗ്രഹത്തിന് വിപരീതമായി) അനാവശ്യമായ ചിന്തകളും ചിത്രങ്ങളും പ്രേരണകളും ആണ് (repetitive, uncontrollable, unwanted intrusive thoughts, images and urges). ഇവ അമിതമായ ഉല്‍ക്കണ്ഠക്ക് (anxiety) കാരണമാകുന്നതിനാല്‍ തന്നെ അനുഭവിക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തി ഇവയെ ഏത് വിധേനയും ഇല്ലാതാക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു. ഒബ്സെഷനുകളെ ഒഴിവാക്കാന്‍ വേണ്ടി ആവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു ചെയ്യേണ്ടി വരുന്ന മാനസികമോ ശാരീരികമോ ആയ പ്രവര്‍ത്തികളെയാണ് (repetitive behaviours or mental acts) കംപല്‍ഷന്‍ എന്ന് പറയുന്നത്.ഇത് പോലുള്ള സംശയങ്ങളും അവ ദുരീകരിക്കാനുള്ള പ്രവര്‍ത്തികളും മനുഷ്യരില്‍ സര്‍വ്വസാധാരണമായി കണ്ട് വരുന്നു. ഉദാഹരണത്തിന് വീട് പൂട്ടിയിറങ്ങുന്ന ഒരു വ്യക്തി അക്കാര്യം ഒന്ന് കൂടി ഉറപ്പാക്കാന്‍ വേണ്ടി ഒന്നോ രണ്ടോ തവണ തിരിച്ചു വന്ന് പരിശോധിക്കുന്നത് അസ്വാഭാവികതയായി ആരും കണക്കാക്കാറില്ല. അത് കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ OCD എന്ന രോഗനിര്‍ണ്ണയം സാധ്യമാകണമെങ്കില്‍ ചില നിബന്ധനകള്‍ കൂടിയുണ്ട്.
    അതിലൊന്ന് ഇത്തരം പ്രവര്‍ത്തികള്‍ സാമാന്യയുക്തിക്ക് നിരക്കാത്ത വിധം അത്യധികമാവുകയും ചിലപ്പോള്‍ മനസ്സിലേക്ക് കടന്ന് വരുന്ന സംശയങ്ങളുമായി ഒരു ബന്ധവുമില്ലാത്തതാവുകയും ചെയ്യുമ്ബോഴാണ്. ഓരോ തവണയും വീട് വിട്ടിറങ്ങുമ്ബോള്‍ കൃത്യം 30 തവണ വാതില്‍ പൂട്ടിയോ എന്ന് ചെക്ക് ചെയ്യേണ്ടി വരുക, അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു കഴിഞ്ഞ് ഓഫീസിലെത്തി ജോലികളില്‍ വ്യാപൃതനായ ശേഷവും അതേ സംശയം ഉടലെടുക്കുക, വീണ്ടും വാഹനമെടുത്ത് തിരിച്ചു വീട്ടിലെത്തി ഒന്ന് കൂടി ഉറപ്പ് വരുത്തുന്നത് വരെ മറ്റൊന്നിലും ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയാതിരിക്കുക തുടങ്ങിയവ ഉദാഹരണം.രോഗനിര്‍ണ്ണയം നടത്താനുള്ള മറ്റൊരു നിബന്ധന ദൈനംദിന ജീവിതത്തെ താളം തെറ്റിക്കുന്ന തരത്തില്‍ ഇത്തരം പ്രവര്‍ത്തികള്‍ അധികമാവുകയും പലപ്പോഴും ദിവസവും ഒരു
