It’s a start of a new era for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with MS Dhoni stepping down as skipper of the side. The major announcement was made just a couple of days before the start of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Dhoni has handed over the reins to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has been an integral part of the franchise since the 2012 season.


It must be noted that Dhoni had been CSK’s full-time skipper since the inception of IPL in 2008. Under him, the side qualified for 11 playoffs in the 12 seasons they participated. The yellow army made nine final appearances in this period and walked away with four titles. Hence, Jadeja has big boots to fill and it will be interesting to see how he fares in the new role.

The bidding for the Indian Premier League‘s (IPL) media rights tender will start in the second week of June. Anticipated to be released next week, the tender will be divided into four bundles. The Governing Council (GC) for the IPL, when they met on March 25 in Mumbai, determined that the multiple broadcasters or OTT platforms will not be allowed to come together to form a group for the bidding.


It had come to notice that the GC had agreed upon the splitting of the digital and television rights and that there would be a separate package that might permit various parties to broadcast a smaller conglomeration of games at the same time. Apart from that, there would be a separate package for people in other parts of the world. The obvious connotation of that package is that a composite bid may not be possible.

Ahead of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) felicitated Tokyo 2020 medal winners of India. To note, the BCCI last year announced that it will conduct a ceremony to honour the winners from the Tokyo Olympics with mementos and cash prizes. However, the board did not get a chance to hold any event due to various reasons.
