Virat Kohli’s form has been the hottest topic of discussion in the cricket world lately. The right-handed batter has been far away from his best in the last couple of years as runs have dried up for him. While the 33-year-old has been playing handy knocks every now and then in this period, nothing much can be said about his performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
At an average of just over 20, Kohli has scored 216 runs in 11 outings so far this season and RCB would want him to get his mojo back sooner than later. With Kohli being one of the finest batters in the modern era, several fans and experts have given their take on his struggles. Veteran Australian and Delhi Capitals opener David Warner was also asked to shed his opinion on the burning topic and he came up with a classic one-liner.
“Have a couple more kids and enjoy love! The form is temporary and the class is permanent so you don’t lose that. It happens to every single player in the world,” Warner told Sports Yaari.
“It doesn’t matter how good a player you are, you’re always going to have these ebbs and flows. Sometimes the ebb is a long way before you get back up there. Stick to the basics,” he added. Notably, Warner himself endured a hard time in the last season’s IPL, wherein he was controversially sacked as Sunrisers Hyderabad captain midway through the competition.
However, he roared back to form and has been doing well in the ongoing tournament, scoring 264 runs in seven outings. Coming back to Kohli, the talismanic batter has been among the runs in his last couple of outings but his strike rate has been an area of concern. While the right-handed batter took 53 balls to score 58 against Gujarat Titans, he made 30 off 33 deliveries against Chennai Super Kings.

Mumbai Indians (MI) have defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai by 13 runs defending 150 runs. Their bowlers, especially Trent Boult and Rahul Chahar were exceptional picking three wickets each while Jasprit Bumrah was as usual at his best returning with the figures of 1/15 in his four overs.
Earlier, Jonny Bairstow slammed 43 off just 22 balls to get SRH off to a brilliant start. Even David Warner seemed to be in his elements but they lost wickets at the wrong time which turned the game. While Bairstow got out hit wicket off Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya’s brilliant direct hit cut short the SRH skipper’s innings. The rest of the line-up never looked like getting to the target on a slow pitch as they succumbed to a third consecutive defeat.
Earlier in the day, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat. MI got off to a decent start as well with their skipper scoring 32 runs while Quinton de Kock laboured his way to 40 off 39. The middle-order struggled to get going as the pitch turned slow but it was Kieron Pollard who stepped up when they needed the most. He struck an unbeaten 35 off 22 to propel MI to 150 and it proved enough in the end.

David Warner Reacts On Kane Williamson's Inclusion In SRH For IPL 2021 And More Cricket News

The last few weeks haven’t been pleasant for many Australian cricketers. Following the abrupt suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Aussie participants in the tournament had to fly to the Maldives due to the travel ban imposed by the Australian government. They eventually landed in Australia on May 17 and reunited with their families only after serving the mandatory quarantine.
Dashing opener David Warner also participated in IPL 2021, and his experience was ‘terrifying.’ Warner, who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad, reunited with his wife and children on Monday (May 31) after being released from two weeks of hotel quarantine in Sydney. Speaking of his time in India, the southpaw recalled the tragic scenes he witnessed in the COVID-ravaged nation during IPL 2021.
It was just really upsetting from a humanitarian point of view: David Warner
“I think it really hit home when everyone saw that piece on the TV about what was happening in India with the oxygen. You know, people on the streets lining up to cremate their family members and we did see that a couple of times going to and from the grounds. Open fields and stuff. You know, it was terrifying. And it was just really upsetting from a humanitarian point of view,” Warner told Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa.
Talking about IPL suspension, the veteran batsman opined that the right decision was made. However, he also mentioned that the overseas players had to get out of India after the situation became more challenging.
“It was challenging. We had to get out of there ASAP. We were there (in the Maldives) with other people, and they were there for the same reasons — getting out of India, trying to get to their countries as well because pretty much everyone was locked out of their country who had been into India,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, Warner is currently enjoying family time at home. However, he also must have an eye on Australia’

Ponting is also hopeful of all-rounder Mitchell Marsh overcoming his fitness issues and being available for selection soon.
Delhi Capitals are set to take the field with a stronger line-up from their next match onwards as big guns like Anrich Nortje and David Warner are likely to be available for selection. The same was confirmed by the team’s head coach Ricky Ponting following Delhi’s 14-run defeat against Gujarat Titans on Saturday. Ponting is also hopeful of all-rounder Mitchell Marsh overcoming his fitness issues and being available for selection soon.
For the unversed, there has been a mystery around Nortje’s back and hip injury as he hasn’t played competitive cricket since November last year. However, Ponting revealed that the South African speedster has been bowling well in the nets. As far as Marsh and Warner are concerned, Cricket Australia’s contracted players can only participate in IPL 2022 after April 6.
As DC’s next assignment is against Lucknow Super Giants on April 7, Warner can feature in that fixture. While Marsh is most likely to miss that fixture amid his hip strain, Ponting expects the all-rounder to be available after the LSG clash.
“Nortje bowled 100% this morning in the warm-ups. I think he has to get through another may be four or five-over spell at 100% capacity and then I think if he gets clearance from Cricket South Africa, he should be right to go. We have got a few more days before our next game [against Lucknow Super Giants on April 7], so hopefully, he is available for selection for that one,” Ponting told reporters after DC’s defeat to GT.
“I think David Warner has arrived in Mumbai. He left early yesterday morning I believe, so he should be there when we get back to Mumbai tonight. Mitchell Marsh has been in Mumbai for a few days, obviously getting his quarantine done. I think he might be out of quarantine tomorrow actually,” he added.
As mentioned above, Ponting is also optimist

Australia have named their playing eleven for the opening Ashes Test, starting Wednesday, December 8 at The Gabba in Brisbane. Alex Carey, who has already played 45 ODIs and 38 T20Is in national colours, is set to make his debut in the longest format. The southpaw has replaced Tim Paine, who has taken an indefinite break from cricket after the infamous sexting scandal.
Carey, however, has played 45 first-class matches where he has notched nearly 2500 runs with five centuries and 13 half-centuries. Pat Cummins, the Aussie Test skipper, said that it was a tough call to select one between Travis Head and Usman Khawaja before he picked the former. Khawaja, 34, will turn 35 later this month and he’s been in and out of the team for quite a while.
Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and skipper Cummins will take charge of the pace attack. Nathan Lyon remains their lone spin-bowling option. Head coach Justin Langer, in the meantime, on Saturday, talked about the pace trio’s preparations despite the wet ground conditions in Brisbane.
Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has heaped praises on Rohit Sharma for being able to lead teams with a lot of efficiency. Rohit’s fortunes in cricket changed in 2013 when he took over from Ricky Ponting as the skipper of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. It was also the same year when he started opening the batting for Team India at the highest level.
Eight years later, the Nagpur-born Rohit is the most successful skipper in the history of the IPL, having won five titles, although MI failed to qualify for the playoffs last time. Tendulkar reckoned that apart from his potential to lead, Rohit’s ability to hold his composure in crunch situations sets him apart from the rest.
“Whatever my interaction with Rohit has been, he has a very smart cricketing brain. He doesn’t panic. He is able to absorb pressure is what I saw. That is important when you are leading the side,” Tendulkar was qu
