Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene has expressed his confidence in the five-time champions skipper Rohit Sharma, saying that it’s just a “matter of time” before Sharma plays a big knock. To note, the Men in Blue have lost all five matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 and are languishing at bottom of the table.

MI have so far lost to Delhi Capitals (DC), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their previous match, by a margin of 12 runs. To note, MI skipper has failed to perform in this edition so far. The right-handed batter has managed to score just 108 runs at an average of 21.60 this season.

He is getting some really good starts: Mahela Jayawardene
“If you look at the way he starts, the way he hits the ball, it’s brilliant. He’s timing it, he’s getting some really, really good starts. Yes, he’s disappointed as well, that he’s not being able to convert them,” Jayawardene was quoted by The New Indian Express.

“We’ve seen Rohit batting deep, batting for 14-15 overs and getting those big scores. It’s just a matter of time. He’s a quality player and I am not concerned about the form as such,” he added.

Meanwhile, MI on April 13 (Wednesday) were handed their fifth straight defeat in the tournament. PBKS managed to thump the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in a group stage match. Chasing a target of 199 runs, the Men in Blue could manage 186/9 in their 20 overs.

After losing the toss, Punjab posted a mammoth total of 198 runs. Skipper Mayank Agarwal (52 off 32 balls), Shikhar Dhawan (70 off 50 balls), and wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma (30 off 15 balls) helped PBKS to finish on 198/5 in their 20 overs. Senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for MI, as he gave away only 28 runs and picked a crucial wicket of Livingstone.

In reply, South African batter Dewald Brevis (49 off 25 balls) and Suryakumar.

Lalchand Rajput says that any game isn't over till MS Dhoni is in the middle of the park

The IPL 2022 has been sensational so far as we approach the business end of the tournament. The ten teams have been brilliant in different aspects although the results don’t reflect that. The two new teams have surprised the old horses and have been quite magnificent so far including the captaincy of Hardik Pandya.

The fans witnessed a special game on Thursday (April 21st) as the ‘El Classico of IPL’, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings battled it out. MS Dhoni was back at his best in terms of his finishing duties when CSK were in a tricky situation with 17 needed off the final over from Jaydev Unadkat.

The veteran batter kept his cool and finished off the game in style with an unbeaten 13-ball 28-run knock that included three fours and a six. The 40-year-old showed why he has been deemed as one of the best finishers in the game ever and in the process, he achieved a unique feat as well. Dhoni has now become the fastest batter to score 100 IPL runs against a bowler in IPL as he managed to get to the landmark in 42 balls against Unadkat.

The record was previously held by another Chennai Super Kings legend, Suresh Raina who wasn’t picked up in the mega auction this year and he has managed it against Sandeep Sharma in 47 balls. AB De Villiers, who retired from the IPL last year, shared the record with Raina by hitting 100 runs off Sandeep Sharma in just 47 balls.

Kieron Pollard is the only active player on the list other than Dhoni, and he has also managed to achieve the feat in 47 deliveries against the Chennai Super Kings skipper Ravindra Jadeja. All the four players on the list have played a big part in their franchise’s history over the years and are termed legends of the tournament as well.

Lalchand Rajput feels Yuzvendra Chahal-Ravi Ashwin duo is game-changers for Rajasthan

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are up against each other in Match 34 of IPL 2022. Royals are in the third position with four wins, while the Capitals are placed sixth with three wins in six league matches. Ahead of this fixture, the former Indian cricketer Lalchand Rajput discussed the form of Yuzvendra Chahal and shared his views on Capitals.

Rajput reckoned that the body language of Chahal has been different this season and he has looked confident. Rajput said that the leg-spinner is trying to show the world his potential in the shortest format and had put a question mark on the decision of selectors who kept him out of the T20 World Cup 2021 squad. He further added that Chahal has developed himself into a world-class bowler with this attitude and mindset on the field, and praised his performance in death overs. In three matches of IPL 2022, Chahal has scalped five wickets at an economy of 7 in the death overs.

“The most important for a bowler is his body language, which gets better when your confidence is high. The way he runs before going to bowl, tells how much confidence he has. The graph has certainly improved for Chahal, and he wants to show the world if I was bowling well, and why I was left out. This is the time, he wants to show with his consistent performances, that I am still the wrist spinner who can bowl in the powerplay as well as death overs. His mindset and attitude are making a good bowler into a world-class bowler,” said Lalchand Rajput on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket Show’ on CricTracker.

Rajput also reckoned that DC are dependent on the contribution of the players like Prithvi Shaw and David Warner, who have helped them to get a flying start in the last few matches. He pointed out the RCB game, where the middle-order could not win the game for the team. Rajput concluded by saying that the team is missing the services of Shimron Hetmyer, who finished well in the last few editions for the fr
