बीती रात दावाओ में हुए बम विस्फोट के बाद आखिरकार राष्ट्रपति ड्यूटेर्ट ने शहर में आपातकाल की घोषणा कर दी है और साथ ही स्थानीय लोगों से सहयोग और सतर्कता बरतने की अपील की है। इस घोषणा से सैन्य बलों को शहरी केंद्रों में तैनात किए जाने की अनुमति मिल सकेगी ताकि वह जांच चौकियां और गश्त बढ़ाने में पुलिस की मदद कर सकेंगे। अधिकारियों की मानें, तो भरे बाजार में अचानक विस्फोट से 70 से ज्यादा लोग घायल हुए हैं। राष्ट्रपति ड्यूटेर्ट के प्रवक्ता मार्टिन अंदानार की मानें, तो विस्फोट आईईडी से किया गया है। हालांकि आशंका जताई जा रही है कि विस्फोट के पीछे मादक पदार्थ के कारोबारियों का हाथ हो सकता है, जो अपराध और इस्लामिक उग्रवादियों के खिलाफ राष्ट्रपति ड्यूटेर्टे के अभियान का विरोध कर रहे हैं। फिलहाल घायलों को अस्पताल पहुंचाया गया है और राजधानी मनीला में भी पुलिस ने रेड अलर्ट जारी कर दिया है। बता दें कि दावाओ शहर फिलिपींस का सबसे बड़ा शहर है और राष्ट्रपति ड्यूटेर्ट भी दावाओं से दो बार मेयर रह चुके हैं।
