राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार हासिल करने वाली तमिल फिल्म 'विसारनाई' को भारत की ओर से विदेशी भाषा फिल्म श्रेणी में 2017 के ऑस्कर पुरस्कार के लिए नामित किया गया है। इसी के साथ फिल्म की पूरी टीम के बीच काफी खुशी का माहौल देखा जा रहा है। फिल्म के निर्माता धनुष ने ट्विटकर अपनी खुशी को जाहिर किया है। फिल्म फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडिया के महासचिव सुपर्ण सेन ने कहा, विसारनई दौड़ में शामिल 29 फिल्मों से चुनी गई है। आपको बता दें कि इस फिल्म के निर्माता धनुष हैं और निर्देशक और लेखक वेत्रिमारन हैं। फिल्म एम चंद्रकुमार के उपन्यास लॉक अप पर आधारित है। फिल्म में दिनेश रवि, आनंदी और आदुकलाम मुरूगदोस मुख्य किरदार में हैं। विसरनई पुलिस की बर्बरता, भ्रष्टाचार और अन्याय की कहानी पर आधारित है। यह तमिल सिनेमा की 9वीं फिल्म है, जो ऑस्कर के लिए नॉमिनेट हुई है। 16 साल बाद किसी तमिल मूवी की एंट्री ऑस्कर में हुई है। इससे पहले साल 2000 में कमल हसन की हे राम फिल्म ऑस्कर के लिए चुनी गई थी। यह फिल्म अब तक तीन राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार अपने नाम कर चुकी है। फिल्म को तमिल में सर्वश्रेष्ठ फीचर फिल्म, सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेता और सर्वश्रेष्ठ संपादन के लिए पुरस्कार मिला है।
