26 जनवरी की परेड से दुनिया को अपनी ताकत दिखाने के बाद अब इंतजार 29 जनवरी को होने वाले Beating Retreat Ceremony का रहता है। रायसीना रोड पर राष्ट्रपति भवन के सामने इसका प्रदर्शन किया जाता है। 26 जनवरी की सुबह 10 बजे नैशनल सल्यूट के साथ शुरू हुई यह परेड, लगभग 90 मिनट तक चली।

राजपथ पर ‘बीटिंग द रीट्रिट’ समारोह का भव्य आयोजन किया गया। सेरेमनी की शुरुआत तीनों सेनाओं के बैंड्स के मार्च के साथ हुई। समारोह में 26 से ज्यादा धुनें बजाई गई। इस समारोह के मुख्ये अतिथि राष्ट्रथपति प्रणव मुखर्जी भी मौजूद रहे। इसके साथ ही प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी भी समारोह में शामिल रहे। आज के इस कार्यक्रम ‘बीटिंग द रीट्रिट’ का नेतृत्वा स्वांद ड्रन लीडर जी जयचंद्रन ने किया। वहीं इस बार बीटिंग रिट्रीट सेरेमनी में 16 सेना के बैंड्स के अलावा 16 पाइप और ड्रम बैंड शामिल हुए। इसके अलावा पुलिस और अर्धसैनिक बलों के बैंड ने भी हिस्सार लिया। दरअसल हर साल 26 जनवरी के तीन दिन बाद यानी 29 जनवरी को ‘बीटिंग द रीट्रिट’ का विजय चौक पर आयोजन किया जाता है और कर्यक्रम की शुरुआत सुर्यास्त के समय की जाती है। ‘बीटिंग द रीट्रिट’ गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह का ही एक हिस्सा होता है। इस सेरेमनी के साथ ही 26 जनवरी यानी गणतंत्र दिवस के समारोह का औपचारिक समापन हो जाता है। इंग्लैंहड से आई इस परंपरा का असली नाम वॉच सेटिंग है और और भारत में इसकी शुरुआत साल 1950 में हुई।
