The Indian sub-continent. Once home to the Indus valley civilization, India has always been a country of many great and diverse cultures. These cultures largely spent their time building things, going to war and building more things. Oh, and having loads of freaky, freaky sex. While things weren't always peaceful, the Indian sub-continent, left to its own devices, flourished.

Until the white plague. For a period of some 200 years, the Indian sub-continent was ravaged by a plague of Hermasjesteria blandus, more commonly known as the colonial housefly. Fortunately, in 1947, this was overcome and India's inhabitants were once more at peace. Or they should have been anyway.

But 70 years on, a great number of species who call India their home are in danger of going extinct. Some due to natural causes, and others due to predation and habitat loss. Here are 5 Indian species in danger of going extinct.
