आपने हमेशा से यही सुना होगा कि पहाड़ बर्फ से ढके हुए हैं। अगर हम कहें के पहाड़ों को कपड़े से ढका जा रहा है तो आपको ये सुनकर थोड़ा अजीब जरूर लगेगा, लेकिन ये बिलकुल सच है। जलवायु में तेजी से हो रहा परिवर्तन और बढ़ता तापमान बड़े खतरे की तरफ इशारा कर रहे हैं। ग्लेशियर (Glacier) की बर्फ पिघल रही है, समुद्रों का जल स्तर बढ़ रहा है, दुनिया की सबसे ठंडी जगह के लोग भी अब गर्मी में झुलस रहे हैं। यह हालात प्रकृति के आने वाले प्रकोप की बड़ी आहट हैं। इटली में क्लाइमेट चेंज का चिंताजनक मामला सामने आया है। यहां का एक ग्लेशियर तेजी से सिकुड़ रहा है और उसे टूटने से रोकने के लिए विशेषज्ञ कई तरह की कोशिशें कर रहे हैं।उत्तरी इटली का प्रेसेना ग्लेशियर (Presena Glacier) तेजी से पिघल रहा है और जल्द ही इसके टूटने का खतरा पैदा हो गया है। ग्लेशियर का टूटना बड़ी तबाही ला सकता है इसको देखते हुए जलवायु विशेषज्ञ इस ग्लेशियर को कपड़े की लंबी पट्टियों से ढकने में लगे हुए हैं। कपड़े की यह पट्टियां खास तकनीक से बनाई गई हैं, यह सूर्य की गर्म किरणों को रिफ्लेक्ट करेंगी, ताकि कपड़े के नीचे की बर्फ ना पिघले। विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि यह सुरक्षात्मक आवरण 70 फीसदी बर्फ को पिघलने से रोकेगा। यह कवर वैसे ही काम करेगा जैसे कार की विंडो पर सिल्वर रिफ्लेक्टिव गार्ड लगाए जाते हैं
