Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the country's longest road tunnel that links Kashmir Valley with Jammu by an all-weather route and reduces the distance by 31 kms.
The 9-km long 'Chenani Nashri Tunnel', built at the cost of Rs 2,500 crore, was dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister here in presence of Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
After the inauguration, Modi, along with Vohra and Mehbooba, travelled in an open jeep through the tunnel for some distance.

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ റോഡ് ടണലായ ടണല്‍ ഓഫ് ഹോപ് എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നതാണ് ജമ്മു കാശ്മീരിലെ ചെനാനി- നസ്രി തുരങ്കപാത.ആധുനിക ഇന്ത്യയിലെ എന്‍ജിനീയറിംഗ് വിസ്മയം എന്നു വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാവുന്ന നിര്‍മ്മിതിയാണ് ജമ്മു കാശ്മീരിലെ ചെനാനി- നസ്രി തുരങ്കപാത.ടണല്‍ ഓഫ് ഹോപ്പ് എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഇത് ജമ്മുവിനെയും ശ്രീ നഗറിനെയും തമ്മില്‍ ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദേശീയപാതയാണ്.ഏഷ്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും നീളം കൂടിയ തുരങ്കപാതയാണ് ഹിമാലയത്തിന്‌റെ ഹൃദയഭാഗത്തിലൂടെ കടന്നു പോകുന്നത്. 9.2 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ നീളമുള്ള ഈ തുരങ്കം ജമ്മുവില്‍ നിന്നും ശ്രീനഗര്‍ വരെയുള്ള ദൂരം 350 കിലോമീറ്ററില്‍ നിന്നും 250 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ ആയി കുറയ്ക്കും. രണ്ട് മണിക്കൂര്‍ യാത്രാസമയമാണ് ലാഭിക്കാനാകുക.അഞ്ചര വര്‍ഷങ്ങളെടുത്താണ് ഈ മഹാതുരങ്കത്തിന്‌റെ പണി പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കിയത്.ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും നീളം കൂടിയ ഇരട്ടവരി ടണല്‍പാതയായ ഇതിന് പ്രത്യേകതകള്‍ വേറെയുമുണ്ട്.ഇന്ത്യയുടെ അഭിമാന നിര്‍മ്മിതികളിലൊന്നായാണ് ഇത് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും ദൈര്‍ഘ്യമേറിയ തുരങ്കം,ഏഷ്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും നീളം കൂടിയ ഇരട്ടവരി ടണല്‍പ്പാത,ട്രാന്‍സ്‍വേര്‍സ് വെന്റിലേഷന്‍ സിസ്റ്റമുള്ള ലോകത്തെ ആറാമത്തെ തുരങ്കപാത തുടങ്ങിയ വിശേഷണങ്ങളെല്ലാം ഇതിന് സ്വന്തമാണ്. ജമ്മു-ശ്രീനഗര്‍ ഹൈവേയുടെ ഭാഗമാണ് ഈ തുരങ്കം. സമുദ്ര നിരപ്പില്‍ നിന്നും 1200 മീറ്റര്‍ ഉയരത്തിലാണ് ഇതുള്ളത് .ജമ്മുകാശ്മീരിന്റെ തലസ്ഥാന നഗരങ്ങളായ ജമ്മുവിനെയും ശ്രീനഗറിനെയും തമ്മിലാണ് ഈ ഇരട്ടവരി ടണല്‍പ്പാത ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.മുന്‍പ് ജമ്മുവും ശ്രീ നഗറും തമ്മിലുള്ള ദൂരം 41 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ ആയിരുന്നത് ടണല്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയായതോടെ 9.2 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ ദൂരമായി ചുരുങ്ങി. ഇതിന്റെ വരവോടെ ജമ്മുവില്‍ നിന്നും ശ്രീനഗര്‍ വരെയുള്ള ദൂരം 350 കിലോമീറ്ററില്‍ നിന്നും 250 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ ആയാണ് കുറഞ്ഞത്. ഇതോടെ രണ്ടര മണിക്കൂറോളം യാത്ര സമയം ലാഭിക്കുവാനും യാത്രകള്‍ സുരക്ഷിതമാക്കുവാനും സാധിക്കുന്നു.2011 ലാണ് . ചെനാനി- നസ്രി തുരങ്കപാതയുടെ നിര്‍മ്മാണം ആരംഭിച്ചത്. ഹിമാലയത്തിലെ ശിവാലിക് പര്‍വ്വത മലനിരകളെ തുളച്ചാണ് ഇത് പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. നാഷണല്‍ ഹൈവേ അതോറിറ്റി ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ ആയിരത്തി അ‍ഞ്ഞൂറിലധികം എന്‍ജിനീയര്‍മാര്‍, ഭൗമ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞന്മാര്‍, ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് തൊഴിലാളികള്‍ ചേര്‍ന്നുയര്‍ത്തിയതാണിത്. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ എല്ലാ താലാവസ്ഥ രീതികളെയും അതിജീവിക്കുവാന്‍ കഴിയുന്ന തരത്തിലാണ് ഇത് നിര
