Kate Middleton Topless photographer and Closer editor charged over topless photos of the Duchess of Cambridge

Two people have been charged over topless photos of the Duchess of Cambridge, it is being reported.

Sources told the AFP news agency the accused are the head of the Mondadori Group - the publisher of glossy magazine Closer where some of the shots were printed - and a photographer at regional daily La Provence.

The photos of Prince William's wife Catherine caused a furore when they were published last September, and sparked a criminal probe into how they were obtained.

Judges in the Paris suburb of Nanterre charged the photographer with 'invasion of privacy' for taking images of the former Kate Middleton in a swimsuit while she was on holiday in the south of France with her husband.

Those shots were published in La Provence, but the most intimate pictures showing the Duchess of Cambridge topless and having sun cream applied by William were published in Closer.

Judges are still investigating who took those photos.

Ernesto Mauri, the chief executive of Mondadori, was also charged with 'invasion of privacy' for allowing the topless shots to be published.

French authorities promptly banned Closer from any further publication or resale of the topless images after they first emerged.

A topless demonstrator with written messages on her back walks towards Russian President Vladimir Putin , left and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, right, during the opening tour at the Hannover Fair in Hannover, Germany, Monday April 8, 2013.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel confronted Russian President Vladimir Putin with her concerns about a crackdown on non-governmental organizations - and then topless demonstrators with obscene insults written on their chests assailed the Russian president at an industry fair in Germany.

As the two leaders toured the fair in Hannover, several activists from Ukraine's Femen group, bared their torsos and shouted 'Putin dictator!' before being detained by guards.

A smiling Putin shrugged off the protest.

'As for the action, I liked it,' he said. 'You should be grateful to the girls, they are helping you make the fair more popular.'

Merkel was not amused. 'Whether one has to resort to such an emergency measure in Germany and can't say one's piece some other way, I have my doubts,' she said.

After getting an earful from Merkel on the importance of democratic issues, Putin arrived in Amsterdam on Monday to face an eyeful of protests from gay rights activists.

Rainbow flags were flying at half-staff around the Dutch city and rights groups planned a major protest against Ru

The Russian president shrugs off a protest by topless women in Hanover who yelled 'dictator' before they were covered up.

Russian president Vladimir Putin said he enjoyed protets by topless women at a German trade fair.

Three members of international women's rights group Femen, which has staged protests against Russia's detention of the feminist punk band Pussy Riot, targeted his visit to a trade fair in Hanover with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The protesters ran towards the Russian leader shouting 'Putin dictator!' before being covered up and bundled away by security guards. He appeared pleasantly surprised.

Speaking shortly afterwards at a press conference, a grinning Mr Putin told reporters: 'Regarding this performance, I liked it.'
Mr Putin, no stranger to the odd topless photo opportunity himself having been caught in candid snaps posing bare-chested in Siberia - at times whilst riding a horse - suggested the security men could have been 'gentler' in their handling of the protesters.

He said: 'You should be grateful to the girls, they are helping to make the fair more popular.

'I did not catch what they were shouting, I did not even see If they were blondes, brunettes or chestnut-haired.

Topless protesters stormed a fair in Hannover, Germany, where visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on a foreign relations trip.
Several activists from Ukraine's Femen group bared their torsos and chests — with messages painted in black letters on their bodies — in front of the industry fair's Volkswagen booth as Putin and Merkel toured the fair.

49ers gay ad: Anti-gay bullying video pulled

A 49ers gay ad has been pulled after two team members deny participating in it. On Feb. 1, Yahoo! Sports reported that the 'It Gets Better' video that was made as part of an anti-bullying campaign is no longer online.

'Movement co-founder Dan Savage made the decision to pull the video after linebacker Ahmad Brooks and tackle Isaac Sopoaga strangely denied their involvement with 'It Gets Better' when asked about it by Kevin Manahan of USA Today on Thursday afternoon. After being shown the video, the players then claimed ignorance of the ad's intentions and refused comment,' Yahoo! Sports reported.

The 49ers gay ad marked the first time that an NFL team filmed such a spot. It is unknown why 'It Gets Better' decided to pull the video, which seemed like it would do more good than not, regardless of Brooks and Sopoaga's comments. Many are surprised that the guys were even asked about the ad, given the fact that they have to play football this weekend. That doesn't make what they said right -- or wrong.
Naturally, the timing of this story is suspicious, given the fact that the 49ers will play in Sunday's Super Bowl against the Baltimore Ravens.

The 49ers gay ad was 'designed to encourage hope and acceptance among gay teens who are being bullied.'
