बुराड़ी क्षेत्र की उत्तराखंड कॉलोनी की वैदिक वाटिका में कई रेजिडेंट्स वेलफेयर एसोसिएशन ने मिलकर मनाया स्वतंत्रता दिवस। इस मौके पर दिल्ली जनता दल यूनाइटेड के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष व NDA के इस विधानसभा से पूर्व विधायक प्रत्याशी शैलेंद्र कुमार व पार्षद अनिल त्यागी ने ध्वजारोहण किया। रेजिडेंट्स वेलफेयर एसोसिएशन ने ग्राम सभा की जिस जमीन को पत्राचार के माध्यम से बचाया है उस जमीन के लिए शैलेंद्र कुमार ने भी कोशिश की थी। साथ ही इसी कॉलोनी में एक सरकारी स्कूल की जमीन को भी भू माफियाओं से शैलेंद्र कुमार ने मुक्त करवाया था।
यहां की जनता ने इस सरकारी जमीन को सामुदायिक केंद्र आदि के लिए प्रयोग करने की मांग की है जिसका वायदा शैलेंद्र कुमार ने भी किया है कि यदि दिल्ली में भी NDA की सरकार आती है तो वह खुद इसको विकसित करवाएंगे।
स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर ध्वजारोहण में आसपास की कई कॉलोनी के गणमान्य व्यक्तियों ने छोटे-बड़े सभी ने भाग लिया और धूमधाम से ध्वजारोहण के बाद मिठाई बांटकर स्वतंत्रता दिवस मनाया।
