India has the largest renewable energy expansion plan globally that is estimated to create investment opportunities amounting to $80 billion in the next four years. Enabling policy environment, technology solutions and investments in the Renewable Energy sector can support India’s portfolio achievements and COP26 commitments.

Telangana is leading India’s RE revolution. As on March 31, 2022, Telangana has a total installed RE capacity of 4919.19 MW, including solar energy at 4520.48 MW and wind energy at 128.10 MW besides contribution from other renewable energy sources. The state aims to have a total installed capacity of 6 GW of renewable energy by the end of 2022-23.

This session will focus on the policy overview of the State, discuss priorities, opportunities, and new avenues for cooperation between US and India. It will cover aspects like policy reforms, investments, technology solutions as also best practices adopted by the US that can support the State’s agenda in accelerating the pace towards a green economy.
