ചന്ദ്രദൗത്യവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട 2000 ത്തിലേറെ വസ്തുക്കള്‍ ആംസ്ട്രോങ്ങിന്‍റെ പക്കലുണ്ടായിരുന്നത് .ഇതിന് മുൻപ് മനുഷ്യൻ ആദ്യമായി ചന്ദ്രനില്‍ കാലുകുത്തിയതിന്‍റെ 48 വാർഷികാഘോഷങ്ങളുടെ ഭാഗമായി നീല്‍ ആംസ്ട്രോങ് ചന്ദ്രനിൽ നിന്ന് മണ്ണെടുത്ത് കൊണ്ട് വന്ന ബാഗ് 1 .8 മില്യൺ ഡോളറിന് ലേലത്തിൽ വിറ്റിരുന്നു
1930 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 5൹ അമേരിക്കയിലെ ഓഹിയോക്കടുത്തുള്ള വാപ്പാക്കൊനേറ്റ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തായിരുന്നു ജനനം.ബഹിരാകാശസഞ്ചാരിയാവും മുമ്പ് ആംസ്ട്രോങ് യുണൈറ്റഡ് സ്റ്റേറ്റ്സ് നാവികസേനയിലായിരുന്നു. കൊറിയൻ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ഇദ്ദേഹം പങ്കെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. യുദ്ധത്തിനുശേഷം നാഷണൽ അഡ്വൈസറി കമ്മിറ്റി ഫോർ എയറോനോട്ടിക്സ് (NACA) ഹൈ സ്പീഡ് ഫ്ലൈറ്റ് സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു. അവിടെ അദ്ദേഹം പല വിമാനങ്ങളിലായി 900ത്തിലധികം .ആകാശയാത്രകൾ നടത്തി.1930 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 5൹ അമേരിക്കയിലെ ഓഹിയോക്കടുത്തുള്ള വാപ്പാക്കൊനേറ്റ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് ജനിച്ച നീല്‍ ആംസ്ട്രോങ് . 2012 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 25-ന് അന്തരിച്ചു.
