Did she finally go too far? Lady Gaga is catching heat for wearing a gun bra, adorned with fake assault rifles, in her first concert since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
On Friday, Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball tour stopped in Vancouver, where she donned the controversial gun bra which featured two (fake) assault rifles attached to it,
Gaga did wear a similar outfit for her “Alejandro” video, but the appearance of the gun bra so soon after the Sandy Hook shooting has led many to criticize the controversial singer for her wardrobe choice.
Tom McKay of PolicyMic criticized Lady Gaga’s gun bra, arguing that it is offensive to both sides of the hotly contested issue of gun control in the US.
“In light of all this, Gaga’s decision to don a gun-toting brassiere – undoubtedly with full awareness of its disturbing implications – is tasteless and inappropriate. It rubs salt in the wounds of pro- and anti-gun advocates, and much trashier, the wounds of a despondent and horrified community that just lost 20 of its children.
“Generating controversy from a dress made of steaks is one thing. Generating controversy from the wholesale slaughter of children and teachers is quite another.”

After the spat with Sharon and Kelly Osbourne, Lady Gaga is making headlines again: this time for wearing a prop she’s used before.
In her first concert in a few months, Gaga donned a gun bra, as the video above will confirm.

Wearing a gun bra wouldn’t be such a big thing (for Gaga) if it weren’t for the recent tragedy at the Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, which cost the lives of 27 people, including the shooter.
Gaga, just like Madonna before her, might not realize this but their use of such props could translate into a glorification of gun violence, angry voices online are saying.
Then, there’s also the timing: Gaga has a right to express herself as she sees it fit, but she should show more consideration towards the victims’ families, the same voices add.

There are now conflicting reports as to whether Nancy Lanza — the mother of Newtown shooter Adam Lanza and the woman believed to be his first victim — taught at Sandy Hook Elementary, where Lanza killed 26 others, or if her relationship with the school was much more nebulous. It had been reported for much of Friday that Nancy taught at the school — and that Adam may have targeted children in her classroom — but that hypothesis got much murkier late Friday night.
Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo noticed late in the night that the Wall Street Journal's updated report on the shooting contained a note at the bottom that put Nancy Lanza's relationship with Sandy Hook in question:
A former school board official in Newtown called into question earlier reports that Nancy Lanza had been connected to Sandy Hook Elementary School, possibly as part of the teaching staff.
'No one has heard of her,' said Lillian Bittman, who served on the local school board until 2011. 'Teachers don't know her.'
Marshall also points out that the AP's account of the shooting includes information from a source that Lanza (presumably Adam) attended the school at some point but otherwise 'appeared to have no recent connection to the place.' The story, though, also quotes an anonymous parent saying that Nancy Lanza was a substitute teacher at Sandy Hook:

Nancy Lanza legally bought and owned the guns used in the Connecticut school shooting on Friday afternoon, according to NBC News.
Nancy Lanza, the mother of Adam Lanza, was killed in her home before the Connecticut school shooting took place, according to ABC News. Adam Lanza reportedly shot Nancy Lanza in the face before driving his mother's car to Sandy Hook Elementary School, according to the Associated Press.
Adam Lanza then reportedly killed 20 children and six adults at the Newtown, Connecticut school before pulling a gun on himself. Two 9mm handguns were found at the scene of the Connecticut shooting, per NBC News. Adam Lanza also reportedly brought two semi-automatic pistols and an automatic rifle to school. CNN reports that three of those guns were legally owned by Nancy Lanza.
This finding makes sense considering Adam Lanza was not old enough to legally own a gun in his home state. NBC News reports that Connecticut residents must be 21 or older to purchase or carry a handgun. Adam Lanza, meanwhile, was just 20 years old. However, rifle owners in the state are not required to register their weapons.
Meanwhile, the father of the alleged shooter in this Connecticut shooting has been identified as Peter Lanza. Peter was married to Nancy Lanza until the couple divorced in 2008, according to the Stamford Advocate.
