കഴിഞ്ഞ 50 വര്‍ഷക്കാലത്തെ ചര്‍ച്ചകൾക്കും പരീക്ഷണങ്ങൾക്കുമൊടുവിൽ ഭൂമിയിൽ മൊത്തം മൂന്ന് ചന്ദ്രന്മാരുണ്ടെന്ന കണ്ടെത്തൽ പുറത്ത് വിട്ട് നാഷണല്‍ ജോഗ്രാഫിക്റിപ്പോർട്ട്.ഹംഗേറിയന്‍ ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞരും, ഫിസിസിസ്റ്റുകളുമാണ് മൂന്ന് ചന്ദ്രന്മാരുണ്ടെന്നതിന് ശക്തിയേകുന്ന തെളിവുകൾ നൽകുന്നത് .പുതിയതായി കണ്ടെത്തിയ ചന്ദ്രന്മാരെ രണ്ട് 'ഡസ്റ്റ് മൂൺസ് ' അഥവാ 'കോർഡിലെവിസ്‌ക്കി' എന്നാണ് വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് . വലിപ്പ കൂടുതലുള്ള ഡസ്റ്റ് മൂൺസ് പൂർണ്ണമായും വളരെ ചെറിയ പൊടി പടലങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് നിർമ്മിക്കപെട്ടവയാണ് .'ഡസ്റ്റ് മൂൺസ്' ന് വര്ഷങ്ങളോളം സ്ഥിരതയോടെ നിൽക്കാൻ സാധിക്കുമെങ്കിലും ഇതിലെ പൊടിയുടെ ഘടന മാറിക്കൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കും .1961ലാണ് പൊടിപടലങ്ങളുടെ ചന്ദ്രനുണ്ടെന്ന് പോളിഷ് ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായ കാസിമിയെസ് കോര്‍ഡിലോവ്‌സ്‌കി കണ്ടെത്തുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ ഈ കണ്ടെത്തെൽ തെളിയിക്കാൻ ആർക്കുമായില്ല.ഇത് തെളിയിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള നീണ്ട വർഷത്തെ പരീക്ഷണങ്ങൾക്കൊടുവിലാണ് മൂന്ന് ചന്ദ്രൻ ഉണ്ടെന്ന കാര്യം ഇപ്പോൾ ഉറപ്പ് വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത് . ഭൂമിയുടെ ഒന്‍പത് ഇരട്ടി വലുപ്പത്തിലുള്ളതാണ് പൊടി കൊണ്ടുള്ള ചന്ദ്രൻ . ഈ പൊടിപടലങ്ങളില്‍ സൂര്യപ്രകാശം ഏല്‍ക്കുമ്ബോഴാണ് ചെറുതായി തിളങ്ങുന്നത്.
