പ്രളയം തകര്‍ത്ത 17,000ത്തോളം വീടുകളുടെ പുനര്‍നിര്‍മാണം നവംബര്‍ ഒന്നിന് ആരംഭിച്ച് നൂറു ദിവസം കൊണ്ട് പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കുന്ന ചലഞ്ചിന് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ തയാറെടുക്കുന്നു .ഇത്തരത്തിലുള്ള ചാലഞ്ച് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയന്‍ തന്നെയാണ് അറിയിച്ചത് . വീടുകളുടെ നിര്‍മാണം സ്‌പോണ്‍സര്‍ ചെയ്യാന്‍ സന്നദ്ധത അറിയിച്ച് നിരവധി പേര്‍ മുന്നോട്ടു വന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. ചില വീടുകള്‍ ഗുണഭോക്താക്കള്‍തന്നെ പുതുക്കിപ്പണിയാന്‍ സന്നദ്ധത അറിയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ഗുണഭോക്താവിന് ഭാവിയില്‍ വീടിന്റെ വിസ്തൃതി കൂട്ടാവുന്ന വിധമായിരിക്കും നിര്‍മാണം. പ്രീ ഫാബ്രിക്കേഷന്‍, പ്രീ എന്‍ജിനിയറിംഗ് സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് വീടുകള്‍ നിര്‍മിക്കുന്ന ഏജന്‍സികളുമായി ഇതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ചര്‍ച്ച നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.400 ചതുരശ്ര അടി വീടുകള്‍ നിര്‍മിക്കുന്നതിന് നാലു ലക്ഷം രൂപയാണ് നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇതോടൊപ്പം ലൈഫ് മിഷനിലെ വീടുകളും നഗരസഭാ കെട്ടിടങ്ങളും ഇത്തരം സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് നിര്‍മിക്കുന്നത് പരിഗണനയിലുണ്ട്. രണ്ടു കിടപ്പു മുറികള്‍, ഹാള്‍, അടുക്കള, ടോയിലറ്റ് എന്നിവ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുന്ന വീടുകളാവും നിര്‍മിക്കുക. സ്ഥലം ലഭ്യമല്ലാത്തയിടങ്ങളില്‍ ഫ്‌ളാറ്റുകള്‍ പരിഗണിക്കും. ഗുണനിലവാരമുള്ള വീടുകള്‍ കുറഞ്ഞ സമയം കൊണ്ട് നിര്‍മിക്കുന്ന ഏജന്‍സികള്‍ക്ക് മുന്‍ഗണന നല്‍കുമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്‍ത്തു.
