'Lavthavti Vikrala' is a Marathi Devotional Aarti sung in glory of the supreme Hindu deity, Lord Shiva. He is always depicted as immersed in deep meditation, with His wife Parvati or as the Cosmic Dancer. Lord Shiva is said to have a blue throat, as the consequence of drinking poison churned from the 'Samudra Manthan'. Parvati, his wife, strangled Lord Shiva's neck and managed to stop the poison in His neck itself. As a result of the same, since the poison was too patent, the throat of the Lord turned blue and Lord Shiva came to be known as Neelkantha.
Aarti - A Hindu religious ritual of worship, refers to the songs sung in praise of the deity when lamps are being offered. Devotees express their complete and unflinching love towards God by singing aartis with a deep sense of reverence and adoration.
