Banking, transport and other services across the country are likely to be hit as trade unions have called a nationwide strike today, with nearly 25 crore people expected to join an all-India strike to protest against the government's 'anti-people' policies. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday hailed the trade unions 'Bharat Bandh' call and said that the 'anti-people' and 'anti-labour' policies of the centre have created 'catastrophic' unemployment.

बेशक समाज के एक बड़े तबके की दिलचस्पी सवर्ण आरक्षण बिल में थी, क्योंकि उसके हित इस बिल से जुड़े हैं, ऐसा उसका मानना है। लेकिन उसी समाज को इस बात पर भी गौर करना चाहिए कि उसके आसपास की दुनिया में गरीब मजदूर, किसान, असंगठित क्षेत्र के मजदूर, कर्मचारी किन स्थितियों में रह रहे हैं, उनकी चिंताएं क्या हैं, वे सरकार से क्या चाहते हैं, और सरकार उनकी बातों को न सुनकर किनकी बातें सुन रही है, मान रही है। सरकार यह सोचकर निश्चिंत हो सकती है कि दो दिनों की हड़ताल का कोई खास असर नहीं दिखा, लेकिन समाज को यह जरूर विचार करना चाहिए कि हड़ताल भले ही बेअसर रही हो, लेकिन जिन सवालों पर हड़ताल की गई थी, वे अब भी वहीं के वहीं हैं और उनका असर आने वाले समय में बढ़ सकता है।
