Goa Police on Monday arrested a church pastor, alleging his involvement in conversion and black magic activities. Pastor Dominic D Souza, from the Five Pillar Church, was apprehended by the Mapusa police. Jivba Dalvi, Mapusa Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) said that a case has been registered against the pastor and his associates. 'This is the third offence registered against him on similar sections and 5 more offences in different sections are already registered. In total, eight offences are registered against him,' the police officer added. Pastor Dominic had earlier been arrested in May this year. The High Court had quashed the state administration's order to then ban Pastor Dominic's alleged conversion activity.

There are as many as six cognisable cases under various Sections of the IPC have been registered against them, states the police report. The show cause notice issued by the North Goa Collector Sneha Gitte states that why an order should not passed under section 3 and 4(a) of the Goa Maintenance of Public Order and Safety Act, 1988, directing them to remove them from the jurisdiction of North Goa District for a period which may extend upto two years.

Pastor Dominic D’Souza of Siolim's Five Pillar Church, has been granted conditional bail by the court on Thursday. The pastor was arrested on charges of alleged involvement in black magic and religious conversion activities, following a complaint by a resident of Tamil Nadu presently living in Curti-Ponda. Earlier this week, the JMFC, Mapusa, had extended Pastor D’Souza's police custody by a day. The accused, who had complained of chest pain, was discharged from North District Hospital, Mapusa, and presented before the court as his two-day custody period concluded. On Tuesday, the court had reserved its decision on the bail plea, and the pastor's custody was extended for an additional day.
